‘Wii Pay & Play’ Confirmed For Guitar Hero: World Tour
A few months ago many Nintendo fans started saving their cash when Nintendo announced its Pay for Play service. While this hasn’t taken effect in many big name games, it soon will be in Guitar Hero: World Tour.
When GH4 was revealed, Activision made it known that the Wii version would have downloadable content. Gamers didn't know how they would be able to take more money from them, but now we know due to the box art. Clearly, in the box art revealed at the GC Leipzig you can see the Pay for Play logo in the upper left-hand corner. So start saving your money if you are going to be one of those gamers that want extra content. But we should be happy that we are at least getting downloadable content.

Well...it's news mostly because it's one of the first games to announce actual Pay to Play features and it's GH4 man, that's a newsmaker no matter what practically. XD

"One of the first"?? Heck, MLaaK has DLC. Sambe De Amigo (or whatever the hell it's called) had already announced it having P&P. When they mentioned the Wii version having DLC, I thought it was a given that it was going to have this.

Am I the only one who thinks that instead of making the "Pay&Play" feature the developers should just add the stuff into the game in the first place? Honestly, this "DLC" crap is just an excuse for developers to sell us unfinished games. And the consumers eat it up like DLC is a gift.

This is the first retail game with a boxart to feature the logo. And also, who cares about those other two games?

Depends really. How much does it cost on the other systems? It'll be roughly the same, translated into Wii points.

You're not alone. I'm right there with ya. I used to think that DLC would be great because it could gives games more replayability but the way they are using it now is a rip off. There are many companies out there that actually put the stuff on the disc but you have to pay to be able to see/use it... Hot Shots is a perfect example in my opinion. If you get the PS2 version you basically get all the courses and characters that you normally get in the first place. The other versions strip down the game and you have to buy many of the characters and courses separately. It's almost like paying full price for a demo and then paying more to make it a full game that it should have been in the first place. PS3 kills me sometimes in this area because they're always bragging about the size of a blu ray disc but they never come close to filling it (not including MGS4) and then turn around and try to charge you for stuff they could't fit on the disc or didn't have time to fit on the disc... Rawr, I agree somewhat, for certain games that is.
But I find for RB and GH the songs as DLC are essential vital, you can't put all of the songs on one disc, it's just too much and would jack up the price of the game.

RE: ‘Wii Pay & Play’ Confirmed For Guitar Hero: World Tour
I semi-agree with RB and GH DLC; for that I mean that they should solely be used so we can dl songs they didn't finish before the game launched. (ie. Songs they didn't have rights to at the time, songs they didn't previously think about making, etc)
That said, no songs should be downloadable for RB or GH for the first 2 weeks after its release because all the songs that would've been released at that time they could have easily fit on the disc in the first place.
But when they get 2 dollars a song.. of course they'd rather strip those songs out and make it DLC.

And futhermore Rawr. DLC is certainly better than crap like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: Metallica coming out.

And yet they release the "new" games separately cause they know they'd make more money that way.
DLC isn't a convenience for consumers, its just another way fo the companies to make a quick buck.
If it was a convenience, GH: Metallica and Aerosmith would be DLC instead of retail.
