Well?

Since this deals with games that aren't featured on Nintendo Consoles, I thought Off-Topia might be a better place for this discussion.

At any rate I look forward to seeing what kind of justifications people come up with. None of this "the game just rox lolol"

For the record I voted Call of Duty 4. Everything was top-notch from the campaign to multiplayer, graphics, sound, etc. Really tough choice though. There are 3 or 4 games there that could be the winner on most other years.

For me I voted Mario Galaxy. Though every single one of those games has its flaws.

For Mario Galaxy, despite its stupidly annoying ease it was a very fun game and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Its soundtrack was amazing, gameplay genius and controls (whilst featuring a very lame camera) were well implemented. Definitely one of the two Wii games that stood out this year.

Which brings me to my runner up, Metroid Prime 3. It has a much better story mode than Mario Galaxy... but where Galaxy is beaten by Prime in story, Prime is beaten by Galaxy in length. A veteran Metroid player could finish this anywhere between 10-15 hours. Its really nothing too long.

Honorable mentions go to: Call of Duty 4, The Orange Box and Rock Band.

Games I hope never win this title: Halo 3, seriously... deal with its overrated status. There were MANY better games than it this year... even CoD4, which beat it at its own genre.

Dang... I'm gonna give it to Mass Effect. I loved it. Everywhere from "He's the only one for this job." to making love with Ashley it was a great game. Graphics were great, story, was great, gameplay was great, massive replayability. Definitely Mass Effect.

Runner-ups:
Call of Duty 4, I'm borderline addicted to the online multiplay.
Halo 3, it has the most in-depth multiplayer experience out right now. Period. No one even comes close.
Rock Band, man... getting your buddies together, firing it up, choosing a song, and not playing a single damn note is hilarious.

I vote for Super Mario Galaxy, because it's loads of fun. Also, Bioshock gets a worthy second place in my opinion.

I was thinking of Halo 3..but I really only played it a week ago.

Also the fact that it doesn't compare to a lot of those games.

Super Mario Galaxy was the first game in two years that has put a smile on my face

SMG gets the award, although like LMX said, the camera is awful and it's sinfully short considering how long it was delayed.

Orange Box is no contest.

HL2 (has been a GOTY), EP1, EP2 - The best single player shooter ever made.
Portal - The most innovative game of 07, nothing else is quite like it
TF2 - Quite possibly the best multiplayer game ever.

And all of it has fantastic graphics and unlimited replayability due to the source engine's modability.

my pick was BioShock, that game is sooo underrated, but i swear, it a freaking godsend, i reconmmend it to any 360 owners out there.

Super Mario Galaxy for me. The game was probalby his best feat in 10 years. Gameplay- Incredible. Music-Awesome, Only issue for me was the camera. But the camera is usually a common issue in several games. The game was lengthy if you collect all 120 stars and had a rewarding ending. Graphics were proably the best along side Metroid prime 3 for the Wii console. This is of course my favorite game....at least until Super Smash Bros Brawl comes out.

My second choice was a tie with Metroid Prime 3 and Call of Duty 4. Both great first person shooters. Metroid had a better story. But Call of Duty 4 was very action packed. Both gameplay was great.

.....Also i dont see the hype for Halo 3. I played it and Call of Duty 4 was WAY better....oh and just my opinion. I really dont see how halo 3 was a change in the first person genre. COD4 was much better in comparison. If any game made a change in a genre it was Mario Galaxy changeing the Platforming genre. There isnt gonna be a game in years that will be able to dethone it in the Platforming genre.

I woke up at 4:30 Today..aka 15 minutes ago, because I played Halo 3 too late

mine would be a tie between bioshock and mass effect.

While The Orange Box and Bioshock are both of the highest caliber of games I'd have to say the game of the year is Mass Effect. The amount of influence you have in that game is INSANE, you can make your character however you like. Graphics are top notch, gameplay is incredible, the story is phenomenal! Plus, the amount of voice work in this game truly is amazing, every character has a voice and thousands of different ways of saying something. Not to mention your character actually talks and says what you want not what the game wants. Truly one of the greatest games I've EVER played.
