Here's 5 reasons why Resident Evil 5 will come to Wii, put together over at Pwnamon. Personally, I'm not sure this is going to happen. Even if it does, this is a game I want for my 360, unless the Wii version somehow gets bonus features or added content...

1. Resident Evil has been a huge success on the Wii

It's no secret that Resident Evil 4 was one of the (if not. THE) best Survival Horror games ever made. The sales can reflect that. Todate, RE4 : Wii Edition has sold nearly 2 million copies since it was released 16 months ago (and is one of the 5 best-selling Wii games of all time).

There's also that other Resident Evil game exclusively on Wii. I'm talking about Resident Evil : The Umbrella Chronicles. This awesome Light-Gun shooter has also made quite a dent in the sales charts, with 1.3 million copies sold since it's release 9 months ago. With these numbers, it's clear that Wii gamers want Resident Evil. And Capcom would be foolish not to give the gamers what they want.

2. Capcom's been heavily supporting Nintendo for 10 years

Capcom has been putting Resident Evil games on Nintendo systems for a very long time. The first one was Resident Evil 2 on the N64 in 1999.

Also, it's worth mentioning that last-gen Capcom put more Resident Evils on Gamecube than PS2 or Xbox. there were 5 Resident Evil titles released on the Gamecube during it's 6-year lifespan (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4). And, as mentioned above, Resident Evil has already established a bigger rep on Wii than on PS3 or 360. There hasn't been a Resident Evil game on PS3 or 360 yet.

3. Wii Sales Are Through the Roof

It's no secret (Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 20 months) that the Wii is a huge success (Although it certainly helps that it's only $250 and comes with a game in the box. But that's for another Article). In fact, the July NPD Sales numbers indicate that the Wii sold 555K around the world last month. Keep in mind that's more than what the PS3 and the 360 sold combined. So it would be a good tactical move for Capcom to make money, as well.

4. Resident Evil and the Wii Are A Perfect Fit

Y'know, there is a reason why those 2 Resident Evil Wii titles sold so well. The technology that the Wii has works so great with Resident Evil, that you could argue that Wii was made for the sole purpose of a system for great Shooting games. RE4 and RE : UC both take great advantage of the Wii's innovative Motion control and Pointer Technology, which made swinging a knife and aiming your gun more convincing than ever. And if Capcom used those mechanics for RE5, then it would be a fantastic game. Maybe even better than RE4.

5. The Wii's recently been establishing itself as a more mature system

Call it a kids' system all you want. But the Wii has recently been establishing itself as more than a 9-year old's toy. With games such as Manhunt 2, and the upcoming Mad World, Fatal Frame 4 and Call of Duty : World at War, the Wii's been doing a good job of bringing in more mature players with these games.

So there you have it. Now remember that this isn't a confirmation of anything. It's just this writer's opinion that Capcom has no reason not to release RE5 on Wii.

seems like valid arguments to me, re4 level graphics would be good enough and we know from the re4 wii-lease that resident evil on the wii is and awesome combo

Yeah I can totally see how it would work. Capcom likes ports and money. Porting it to the Wii sounds like a good idea both for gamers and for business.

Oh, and reason number six... RE4 and RE5 are basically the same game. Just tone down the graphics, and it'll be fine.

I think it will as well, look at that half-assed Dead Rising port. RE5Wii will probably happen.

All I'm doing now is hoping we'll see it come to the Wii. I'm not expecting too much, but then again, I'm not doubting too much either.

If RE5 does come out for the Wii I hope they use the motion controls to their fullest and not just tack them on like they did for the RE4 port. I think Wii owners deserve more.

Also, I think Dead Rising will be good for those who have never played it, but for those of us who've tried it on the 360, I think the Wii version will be a big disappointment.

Which is why I'd rather not have an RE5 Wii port. Something original using the RE4/5 engine on Wii instead would be preferred.

To do that Capcom would have to make a new game though, rebuilding from something that already exists would be easier for them. Albeit lazier than making a new game. But I don't think an RE spin-off would be too crash hot based on recent entries.

Well that's because when people think of RE spin off they think about Umbrella Chronicles, Outbreak, etc.

But a spinoff based on the RE4/5 engine that would be something like RE0 (a new spinoff game while still being a third person shooter) is what I was hinting at.

i thought the wii controls worked flawlessly, and it was well reviewed-think xplay gave it 5/5

anytime a game comes out for system after being developed for another system, there is a feeling of things being 'tacked on'

i hear the same thing when a game comes out for the PS3 after the 360

The controls might have worked well, but Wii owners basically got the PS2 version of RE4 with motion controls added, and everybody ran out and bought the game (including myself), because a last gen port was better than what Nintendo was giving us for their current gen system.

If RE5 comes out for the Wii, it simply can't be the same game as you'll see on the 360 and PS3, and I don't think Wii owners need a B-rated version of a possible A-rated game.

Wii Owners got the best version of RE4.

GC RE4 had better graphics. PS2 RE4 had worse graphics but more content.

RE4 has both + Controls.

gamecube (not ps2 version) actually but whatever

i would like it if they followed the re4 model, it worked out pretty well and not all of us want a second system
