Notes:
- Gears of War 2 had the fourth-best debut week of any game released this generation (bear in mind also this is only on 2 days of sales since it was released on a Friday) in North America on a single platform. It sold more than 800,000 more copies than its predecessor did in its first week.
- Gears 2 sold an additional 671k in PAL territories for total worldwide sales of over 2.1 million in its first two days (has not been released in Japan). Obviously, it is the best selling game in the world this week.
- Resistance 2 had the fourth-best debut week of any PS3 game in North America.
- The Wii has eclipsed 100,000,000 pieces of software sold in North America (including Wii Sports, which makes up over 15% of this number). This still lags more than 30 million behind Xbox 360 software despite a larger user base (or 45 million without Wii Sports).
- Assassin's Creed became the sixth Xbox 360 game to sell 4 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, BioShock has surpassed 2 million copies sold worldwide on Xbox 360.
*Wii debuts:
- Quantum of Solace - 31,233 (#26)
- Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - 10,782 (#96)

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong but I think Gears is Epic's IP so they could potentially bring it to the PS3 if they chose to do so, though I'm sure Microsoft would do/has done everything in their power ($$$) to make sure that doesn't happen.
It is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Yeah it is.
Halo was Bungie's IP at one point to. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft buys the rights to GeoW.
I'd say the chances of GeoW coming to PS3 would be roughly the same as MGS4 going to the 360. (Who knows?)
Definatly not anytime soon though.

RE: American sales chart, Nov 1-8: Gears 2 crushes the Resistance
Over 270,000 copies of Guitar Hero World Tour have been sold! I'm wondering how many of them where the game only or with the bundle. I'm surprised that RockBand 2 isn't up there. While I haven't played Guitar Hero World Tour yet I have to say that RockBand 1 and 2 have won me over. I still like Guitar Hero III but with the way the DLC works on RockBand 2 and the fact that I can play all my songs from 1 without using the disc I just think it can't be competed with. I would love to be able to transfer my GH III songs to GHWT but doubt that will happen. Well at least it's good to see that they are having weekly DLC so far unlike GH III.

Hype-Smype. The PS3's userbase isn't as big as 360's.
Anyway. Its like MGS4. Who cares about the sales figures. They are both amazing exclusives, can't wait to get my grubby hands on my copy of LBP.

A much more epic fail: MotorStorm Pacific Rift has sold a whopping 45,000 in its first two weeks. The first one has sold 1.8 million in North America and over 3.6 million worldwide. Very unusual for a sequel to experience such a massive dropoff.

I am a an undeniable fan of the game's quality, but I could care less about its sales. I know they've been crap. The PS3's small userbase doesn't make it easy for massive games to sell amazingly. Plus, I'm getting the feeling most people have PS3's for Blu-ray players.

*puts a cross next to Lemon's name, shakes head and sighs then walks away*
N't >_>
And besides, sales figures have shown games can sell on the ps3, LBP still didn't even reach the likes of motorstorm and resistance in their opening weeks.

RE: American sales chart, Nov 1-8: Gears 2 crushes the Resistance
Actually the software to hardware ratio for the PS3 is pretty solid at a little over 7 games to each console. The Wii is about 6 (5 if you take away Wii Sports) and the Xbox 360 is 10.
MGS4 has sold 3.5 million worldwide and 1.4 million in NA which are fairly impressive given the PS3's small user base. In fact, Snake Eater only sold a little over 1.4 million in North America when the PS2's user base was like ten times what the PS3's currently is.
As for LBP, the sales aren't that bad, but I think Sony could have done a much better job marketing it. Also releasing it in the midst of Gears 2, Call of Duty, Resistance 2, Fallout 3, etc is probably not a sound strategy. While it can be argued that LBP's quality is greater than these titles it certainly does not have the same level of popularity.

RE: American sales chart, Nov 1-8: Gears 2 crushes the Resistance
For the PS3 there are so many games coming out at the same time so they take away from each other. Had they been spaced out a bit they would have sold much more in a shorter period of time. I see LBP continually selling for quite a while and sales for it will pick up in November/December. Motorstorm 2 sales will also pick up eventually but not as much as they should/could have if it were released at another time. I for one will be picking it up eventually this year but I've bought 4 PS3 games in the last 3 to 4 weeks and still have my eye on about 4 more... My wallet is crying.

If that was aimed at me then re-read my post I said that figures have shown that games can sell on the PS3 that's why the resistance2, motorstorm2 and lbp could of had better launches.
