halo 3 also surpassed gears of war in overall sales in just two weeks. it took gears 48 weeks to finally hit 3M this week.

I give the 360 another couple weeks over the Wii, then it'll be back to Wii dominating the consoles. Once everyone gets Halo 3, 360 sales are clearly going to decline greatly.
I wonder if we'll see a huge drop in Halo 3 sales at some point--once the market reaches saturation and no one else needs a copy (unless theirs was scratched and they need to buy another one ) Halo should stop selling, yeah? Given the HUGE hype this game has (the 7-11 next to my apartment complex is selling the game for christ's sake) I feel like it's not going to increase in sales, but rather sell amazingly well for a short period, then drop off once everyone has it

I think for Sony right now, they're screwed, the Wii has been sold out since release and Halo is giving the 360 a big boost. So Sony is probobly thinking, "OMG..."

PM if you want to add me for Wii, SSBB, PBR, PKMN Pearl, MKWii. PSN = Firedemon2370

for a short time this may hold true, but this is the same thing we've been seeing with the Wii. the console sells well, so publishers/developers release games onto the system. the Wii had outrageous sales for months after it's release, so 3rd parties started making more games for the system. granted companies may not start new development on a game solely for the 360 because of this recent jump in sales, but some previously exclusive titles may be moved to multi-platform to include the MS box. something like this could affect the exclusiveness of FFXIII, MGS4 or other titles

If you don't consider over 2 million to half a million a huge drop in sales, I don't know what is. That probably happened because the majority of the hardcore halo fans got their copy. It really won't be long until Halo 3 is out of the top spot.

It is natural for a blockbuster game to sell huge in its first week and see a sharp drop-off the week after. All the hardcores seem to want to get their hands on games as soon as as possible. But Halo is no ordinary blockbuster either, so expect it to be at or near the top of the charts until after the holidays. Probably will stick in the top 20 for a good 6 months (see Zelda: TP, Pokemon D/P)
