Most people figured finding at Wii during its launch last November wouldn't be difficult considering it's not nearly as powerful as an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but we quickly learned, finding one of Nintendo's waggle machines is next to impossible, and one analyst believes these shortages will continue into 2009. Speaking to Home Media Magazine, IDC analyst Billy Pidgeon made a bold prediction on supply and demand for Wii:

    "I believe the Wii will continue strong growth although supply continues to be a problem. I'd like to see Wii hardware shipping in larger quantities or mass market consumers may cool on it. Having said that, I don't believe supply will meet demand for the Wii until 2009. Xbox 360 and PS3 need system-selling games ASAP. Halo 3 will help, as will Lair and Heavenly Sword, but that leaves a hole in Q2 which will be filled by Wii, DS and PSP hardware and software. We'll also see more PC and PS2 software picking up the slack."

I can't imagine that shortages would be till 2009. If this is the case, then there will be a lot of mad people. I got my Wii, so it really doesn't matter too much.

Wait until 2009? Is he claiming that the Big N wouldn't be able to manufacture it faster the more the learn how to do it? What kind of logic is that?

I seriously doubt it'll be 2009 till Wii Shortages stop. Sure it would be good news for Nintendo but bad news for the fans. Still if people keep sucking up hundreds of thousands of Wiis a month like they are now it just might happen...

I see Wii's every Sunday in my town, and they've been there too. They have at least 5 every time. It sucks seeing one without being able to buy it, I'm going to have to find a job this Summer or I'm going to die of boredom.

I have mine, but in my area it is still very hard to find Wiis. Hopefully it doesn't last until 2009.

Are they being sold out every Sunday?

I don't really know, I don't go back and check, because I have no reason to.
