Mario Kart Wii - Only Wii Remote Supports All Moves
Remember how Nintendo revealed that in Mario Kart Wii players will have the option to choose their controller, meaning you are also able to use the Wii Classic Controller and the Gamecube Controller, and not just the Wii remote? Many fans became very excited about this fact, and were pleased that Nintendo had given them options here as many didn't like the idea of tilting the Wii remote, like Excite Truck. Well; here comes the bombshell...
In a recent fact sheet, posted on Nintendo's press site, the sheet states that players who don't use the Wii remote controls will not not be able to pull off "some maneuvers" and won't be able to perform "certain moves".
So I'm guessing you're thinking, 'what moves exactly'? Well, nobody is quite sure yet, but it is sure to be revealed soon; especially with the game coming out next Friday in the UK. It is said though that the new mid-air tricks will be among those possible, as IGN have said that these can be performed using the d-pad. Could this be a sly trick to encourage more players to use the Wii Wheel? I don't know, but we'll find out soon enough.

RE: Mario Kart Wii - Only Wiimote supports all moves
@$%^$#^& $^$*#^# over at #&**@*&$ Nintendo! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? I would rather use the GC controller for this game and I sure as hell don't want to be tilting my Wiimote to turn. I want controls that I can feel I'm actually in control of my car/motorcycle.

The tilting is ok for me but I still prefer using the GC controller. I really enjoy Mario Kart and still play Double Dash all the time, especially at parties. I feel the tilt doesn't give me that great of control as I would like. I guess I might not be used to it. I'll give it a try if I have to though.

Lol, that's pretty cool. On one side you have all the "pro elites" using the GC controller who proclaim it to be superior and are likely to win, and on the other side you have the novices who use the Wii controller and are more likely to lose against the GC guys, but have extra moves. :p

Lol true. But I think Nintendo have pulled this move off very slyly so more players will use the wheel. I personally don't mind which oe to use, but I bet the GC controller would be easier to use when turning.

I laugh at people who need the GC controller to play racing games, I PWN with the wheel!
I have a feeling i'll do better online at this game than SSBB, but I better play more NFS to get the feel back.

Awesome Snake & Awesome Mantis FTW!

I'm surprised that the GameCube controller doesn't have all functions :S.

RE: Mario Kart Wii - Only Wii Remote Supports All Moves
They have an update to this story now, well kinda. They saw that there will be an icon next to your name online that will show if you are using the Wiimote/Wheel or a GC controller. The reason they gave was so that if you get passed by someone using a Wiimote then it's kinda like "take that, I just beat you with my lame controls" and so it's like a slap in the face. I think it's kinda funny actually.
