Metaknight Banned In Italy (Advanced Smash 102 News)

I still don't believe this. The Italian smash community just decided to ban Metaknight because it's considered too cheap/broken and uncounterable. Personally I haven't played Brawl as deeply as Melee but the feeling I had is that Metaknight, though being a very strong character, ISN'T invincible. Since I chose to play Metaknight because he is my favourite character and not because of his moveset I feel personally involved and I'm asking your personal opinion about this..
The reasons brought up for the ban in the community are:
-metaknight has no counters nor match ups in which he has no advantage over his opponents.
-metaknight is the easiest character to play at pro levels.
-metaknight is the character who won most tournaments/got the best placings among the cast.
People in the Italian community are convinced that the presence of metaknight ruins the metagame and overall fun of Brawl, which, according to those people, can't be played seriously as far as MK's in. I honestly have the feeling that people are getting too lazy and won't even bother trying to figure out ways to counter top tier characters.. at least.. I see no other way a character could be banned only 2 months after the game's relase (I shall remember that Brawl was relased in Europe at the beginning of July). I might be wrong though, since I haven't got that much of experience in Brawl.. so I'm asking the boards' opinion about this (expecially skilled players').
discuss.

So the madness begin, I doubt the US and AU scenes will lower themselves to this level though. I do however still find it interesting.

Meta Knight? Wouldn't he be defeated by someone spamming Marth's counter or someone like Snake who has some range? I understand that he's pretty broken but still...banning him?

Spamming will not stop a good Metaknight player. Not a lot would, but that is not to say it would be impossible. What Italy have done is very strange... and I bet it is a ban doesn't stick.

Sure metaknight might have a good set of moves and may seem broken but he isnt unbeatable. Ive defeated several MK users with Sonic.
I doubt this will stick. Since there are tons of MK mains.

I got this from SWF... not sure about AiB.
And also, this is just girly. It isn't like if you choose Metaknight in a tournament you are guaranteed a spot in the finals.

RE: Metaknight Banned In Italy (Advanced Smash 102 News)
I reposted it on AiB, and i got a lot of responses.. some didnt really understood it, others couldnt even stay on topic so I had to ref it.
but mostly mixed reviews. I dont mind the ban in a small region. Im not sure the set amount of smashers in Italy but after about 6 months of No MK, we will see how the rest of the cast measure up without him. On the other hand I do feel that even though MK is considerably better then the rest of the cast he is not invincible. Playing MK doesnt guarantee you a victory or a tournament win [as said by LMX], so with MK around the rest of the cast metagame evolves still, on how to BEAT a MK.. its all about matchup knowledge, then skill.
but we will see right? 6 months is all we need!

It'd be like banning Ken from tournaments. It's just stupid really. How can you learn to beat someone if you cannot fight against them. If they ban him now, then for some reason lift the ban then he'll just go back to owning tournaments because people won't have prepared themselves for the Metaknight play style.

Another possible effect could be this: the metagame increase for the rest of the cast is so significant that the unban on MK causes no significant change due to the fact that MK's metagame has been halted or slowed down. Cant work on or practice new techs or abilities if MK can not be used in real tournaments.
then again this is all speculations! and pretty interesting if you ask me!

Oh yeah? And how would you suggest doing that at a competitive level? Seriously, I'm interested to see why you think the best character in Brawl is "easily beaten."
Note: I'm willing to allow you that as I am assuming you haven't been following the competitive Smash scene.

mk easily beaten? if that was the case then people wouldnt be johning about this whole thing! MK would never be TOP TIER and MK win % in overall tournaments would never be so high!
yeah "easily beaten." lol
dont get me wrong MK isnt "unbeatable" he can be defeated. its all about metagame knowledge. cp stages, cp characters and overall matchup knowledge.

All I have to say is wow, why do you need to ban a char, thats like someone banning an OP char in an MMO because he hits too hard, its insane.
