Nintendo is increasing their production of Wiis to try to meet the demand but can they do it. I found an article that is showing that they will give it a try. Read the article below.

I don't think it's a matter of can they do it, but why haven't they done it before now. I mean if 1 million a month isn't enough after the first couple months after launch, then that would be the time to revamp your manufaturing idea, don't wait almost 5 months after the system hits stores.

I think a lot of it has to do with how much success the Wii has had. I think someone else said this in another post and they are exactly right. Nintendo may have thought/hoped that the Wii was successful but probably couldn't imagine how successful it turned out to be and they were caught off guard. 5 months is a very long time to wait to boost production but who knows, maybe even they thought the "hype" would wear off.

is that really that much?

1 million units a month would come to 12 million in a year. this is rasing that to 14 million in a year. a whole 166,000 units a month

It's not a huge increase but if someone who doesn't have a Wii currently is able to get a Wii then they'll appreciate it. I can't guess what they could put out at full production or even if they are currently at full production. More Wiis = good news for non-Wii owners.

This is good, hopefully people without Wiis will now have a chance to get one.

If it still sells out, I will be more happy of getting it on Launch.

I hope this means Black Wii's are on the way.

I think it can be done. Nintendo wants to keep their fans happy.

they are getting some bad press as of late for not increasing production so this is an attempt to remedy this

It's somewhat bad press and somewhat more hype for Nintendo.

I bet that the Wii supply will increase by Summer and more people will be able to get them. but $h*t! I didn't know Nintendo could sell out 1 million consoles a month!

i wonder how many PS2s were selling a month when it was top next gen console?

think sony must have bigger production facilities b/c it sold like 50 million consoles...it would take six years for the wii to sell that many at current production
