Did anyone else hear about the Brawl glitch? It seems some Japanese gamers were unhappy yesterday after their new copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl could not be read by their Wii. According to them this problem had never occurred before during the use of any other game, so they became curious when it began to happen to several customers who also purchased Brawl.

After receiving complaints about this Nintendo has retaliated by having the cheek to blame it on Japanese Wii users! Nintendo came to the conclusion that the discs could not be read simply due to owner's Wiis being too dirty. They claimed it is to do with dust and tobacco building up on the Wii's laser units. The problem apparently only affects Brawl as the game is on a dual layer disc and they are more sensitive to dirty lens.

To fix the problem, Brawl owners should clean their Wii drive lens. Due to the amount of complaints received, however it is not recommended that Wii owners go around messing with their console's lenses and Nintendo has offered to clean the dirty lenses free of charge.

Talk about chaos! This must be pretty hectic for Nintendo. Firstly, because Nintendo are going to have to clean all these Wii units sent to them, and secondly, because Brawl is probably the most hyped Wii game ever and Nintendo are already having major problems with the game already!

So what Nintendo plans to do is have the people send in their Wiis so that they can clean it free of charge?

I hope I don''t run into this problem because I wouldn't be able to send mine to anyone. I do have a CD Lens cleaner CD that cleans CD lenses when you insert the CD. I know it sounds weird but it has two little ...I don't know what the hell they are but I've used it before and it seems to work.

I had this problem on my PS2. God of War was also dual layered and it caused problems loading up. Sony told me to send them the system and they'd fix it for $45-65+. I told them to piss off, grabbed a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and swabbed the lens. Haven't had a problem since.

There would be no reason to delay. The problem isn't with the game but the disc since it's a dual layer DVD and they are always more susceptible to dirt and stuff than regular DVDs. Of course, they could work around the problem by putting Brawl on two discs but that will never happen.

Two games discs could work. One with SSE and the other with everything esle?

I don't think SSE makes up ~50% of the game and splitting a game like Brawl into two separate discs would never work in any sense and it would be incredibly inconvenient.
