Online Configuration
Yo.
So, I just changed my Wii's internet connection in line with the topic on GameFAQs to increase the speed (and hopefully decrease the lag) of my internet connection. I went to test it out just now, but I can't find any opponents at all in With Anyone mode, and none of my friends are online (24566 of you have yet to register me ).
Is that just bad luck that at 5PM on a weekday night I can't find ANYONE, or did I mess something up when I fooled around with my connection settings?
Has anyone else tried the advice of that thread that could offer insight, perhaps?

RE: Online Configuration
Usually weekday afternoons aren't the time to find people to Brawl with because of school, work or whatever. You're better off closer to night time or weekends.

RE: Online Configuration
What was the method of decreasing lag? I'm sure everyone could make use of it.
Unless it is just opening the router for the IP of the Wii (already have DMZ'ed my 360)

RE: Online Configuration
It had me..... port forward/create a static IP for the Wii. That what it said I was doing, anyway.
Though I have no idea what I'm doing, and the instructions were less than complete. All it seemed like I was doing was entering the connection data manually-- Though the Wii does have its own devoted IP address in our IP range now; though, I'm not sure that wasn't already the case.
So uh... in conclusion, I don't know!

Ya, same principle. Before it was dynamic (router gave it an IP each time), now it is static (doesn't change) which allows the router to open a more direct line between a certain IP (the Wii) and the server. Old trick that works on every game system/computer/device/etc.
DMZ is much easier but can usually only be done for one device.

Alright. Found some peeps. Not even a little less laggy.
I tanked with Gdorf though. 5 kills in two minutes.

It only helps if you were having trouble connecting to people in the first place.

Ah. Maybe I misunderstood what the TC promised. Oh wells. Nothing gained, nothing lost.

RE: Online Configuration
dmz for more than one device
what you need,
2 routers.
ethernet crossover cable.
tipical settings,
router 1 (this is your modem so adsl or cable depending upon you connection)
ip address for router lan 192.168.1.1
all pc's and non DMZ devices connect to this,
set dmz on 192.168.1.245 (or any ip that isn't being used.)
router 2 (needs to be a cable modem router)
all dmz devices connect to this.
ip address for router lan set to DMZ of first router.
they have to be set up individually best to set up the second router first,
also if your router 1 doesn't accept static ip for the DMZ
you'll need to add the mac address of the second router to the first router
for dmz access,
finally open all ports and turn off the firewall on the second router,
also make sure that the wireless access on both routers don't interfere with
eachother, so channel 6 and ch 11 are ok.
i have my routers sat atop of each other and it works like a charm.
There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

These tips should help you connect to more people more often, and match you to people with better performance. This should make lag less existant and reduce the amount of time you have to wait to find matches.
I just saw the words "lag" and "less" and assumed I'd have better performance! haha
