I don't think too many people will argue that 2008 was the best year for software on the PlayStation 3 so far. Now that all the heavy hitters have been released, it's time to choose the best of the best. So, what was the best PS3 game of 2008?

It was a really tight race for me between Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4, but I'm going to go with GTA IV. MGS4, as awesome and gripping as it was, just had a little to much yapping and not enough action. GTA4 had a great story, great gameplay, multiplayer, longevity, good graphics, good music, the works, and never got boring.

LMFAO at best story runner up. GTA IV was funny until story ended, then it just got boring and/or tedious, the only reason I'm playing GTA no is I wants teh trophies. The reason I think people think MGS4 had not enough gameplay is because they rushed through it.

Well, no. MGS4 did lack some gameplay, but at the same time the gameplay it *did* have was amazing.

I went with MGS4. I still don't see how anyone could vote for GTA4. I thought the game was such a let down and enjoyed the older versions much, much more. Uncharted is still my favorite game but I think it came out last year.

Mmm, what about GTA IV did you find let you down?

Yea, maybe cause when I play MGS4 just for fun not going after any emblem I take my time, lol, I dunno, thats just me.

I am going to pick that up in a few weeks (Just got my PS3, huzzah) So many games to check out.

Well, I mainly bought it because it had online play, which every GTA should have but it was really a let down. I used to play SA:MP and that is much better in my opinion. It was their first try at online though so they should do much better next time. I also hated the racing parts of the game big time. I never really got into the story either. I mostly just did whatever I felt like, which is fun but only lasts for so long.

I'm going to have to nominate Street Fighter II HD Remix as the best game for 2008. Not sure why, but I can't manage to play Metal Gear Solid 4; I just don't find it appealing...

Its a bummer you can't get into it either, the game is fan-*******-tastic.

I personally thought that Sons of Liberty/Substance was the peak of the series.

Street Fighter for the lose. Can't stand those games honestly.

They take skill to play that's for sure. And SFIV, whilst it started off kicking my arse, the tables have now turned. And I've nearly unlocked the cast.

Street fighter is too simplistic for my tastes. Brawl is a much more intuitive game with a much more epic feel to it. I guess everybody has their respective tastes, but overall Brawl is the better game IMO.

Street Fighter isn't as simple as you say. Try and fight a vet and they'll wipe the floor with you. Just like a Brawl vet would. Both games take skill.
