Rumor: Smash Bros. Nearly Reaches 1 Million Units Sold in its First Week in Japan
We'd originally heard that Brawl had sold upwards of 500,000 units in its first day on sale in Japan. Now, according to VG Chartz, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has almost reached the 1 million unit milestone in its first week in Japan, selling roughly 940,000 copies.
If the game did in fact sell 500,000 copies in its first day it would be no surprise if it did in fact sell over 1 million this week. This may have also been helped along by the fact that previously popular Wii Fit did not register on the charts, perhaps due to lack of supply. If the game has been able to sell this well in Japan, a country that currently seems to be obsessed with casual crap games how do you believe it will sell in North America once it launches in March?

Hopefully Brawl's sales will be awake up call for Nintendo to make mroe hardcore games, rather than keep throwing bunches of crap family third party games at us.

God....that pic made me laugh so hard. And honestly i am not suprised that this game turned out to be gold but in disc form. When it releases in the US the US will probably collapse within itself since so many people are going to buy it. Reserving games PLV.

THe fact that it has nearly reached 1 million sales already doesnt surprise me cuz it has got 2 be one of the most anticipated titles of all time. And i do hope Nintendo does decide to make more hardcore titles but if they dont, I have a feeling i will be to busy playing brawl to notice

thats called an opinion and there is no denying that the hype brawl is getting doesnt match that of halo or any other great game...just the fact that IGN has been including Brawl news on their website for nearly everyday since last november shows that it is very anticipated

Yes it will be hard for any game to get more hype than Halo, but i cant think of any other Nintendo or even Playstation game that is bigger than Super Smash Bros.
Also, I own a 360 and am a Halo fan, but i am definitely looking forward to Brawl more than I did Halo, but that might just be me

Same here. Halo just isn't as exciting to me as it was back in the Halo 2 days.
