Screen Issue
Right, basically this is an issue I've been having for a while. The screen (Dashboard) is a bit blurred and looks generally dirtier, like it might say 'My Xbox' but there would be another faded away M behind the My. This in 60hz, standard definition, component cables. It also looks kinda of stretched, I noticed it on the old dashboard but the new NXE makes it even worse. It looks extremely ugly. However it looks fine in 50hz...but it's a fuss to be 50hz on the dashboard then have to change to 60hz every time I want to play a game. My TV is a Goodmans LD1945WD 19" HD ready LCD TV, PAL. It doesn't have the slots for the composite cables and my problem is the same in scart and av. Will a HDMI solve my problem or is there another way?

RE: Screen Issue
this may be an obvious question, but have you modified your screen resolution in the system settings?
a component cable connection wont give you the sharpest image either, but it is better than the RCA cables. upgrading to VGA or HDMI would definitely help; however, a quick google search for that model came up with a res. of 1440x900. i dont think the 360 is compatible with that resolution which is probably why youre getting a stretched and blurry screen.

RE: Screen Issue
So, the 360 doesn't support my resolution? I'm guessing the Wii doesn't either =/
Will a HDMI fix this problem or...?
(I love you<3 Thanks, been bugging me for ages)

RE: Screen Issue
hdmi wont fix it. 360 only has a pre-set number of resolutions. yours isnt on the list, so your best bet is to use the closest one to it. second option would be to chuck the monitor out window and buy one that the 360 is compatible with.
click the link for the available screen resolutions:

scratch all that! the new dashboard update has support for your res! did you try that out yet?

RE: Screen Issue
yeah, go to the system settings, then video, and select your screen resolution in there.

RE: Screen Issue
Yeah, your 360 is probably defaulting to a more common native resolution, probably 720p. Your res isn't as common, so you'll just have to select it.

There is no 'video' I went to display though and it has PAL, HDTV and format (normal, wide screen) which is what I've tried before D=

RE: Screen Issue
so when you select 'HDTV' it doesnt give you more options? if it doesnt then youre gonna need to use VGA or HDMI. i have mine hooked up through VGA. im not 100% sure if using HDMI will give you the screen res. option.

RE: Screen Issue
When I select HDTV it comes up with
480p
720p
1080i
1080p
If I click on anything other than 480 it goes black and then it will return a few seconds later. It says I need to switch the cable to HD, but when I do so the 360 restarts but with no image on the screen. Most likely because I can only put the component cables in...sigh...works fine on my sisters tv yet she won't let me use it for whatever reason. It's just the ugly dashboard is annoying, avatars look horrible with this and games like bionic commando rearmed have weird fuzzy patches. I want to play SSFIITHDR yet that'll most likely have fuzzy patches. Even the orange box logo looks fuzzy...Thanks for your help so far lee.

RE: Screen Issue
so when you switched to HD on the cable, what resolution did you set it to?
id say keep the res at 480, move the switch to HD and if you get a picture, go to the display options and see if it lets you change it to 720p. if that doesnt work, youre gonna need to use VGA or HDMI.

RE: Screen Issue
i asked around and it seems that using an HDMI to HDMI cable will only give you standard resolutions (720p, 1080i, etc), but using and HDMI to DVI will give you more monitor resolutions including the one for your monitor.

RE: Screen Issue
Thanks a lot greaser. Still, sigh. I wish I knew this before I bought a brand new hdtv for my room. The thing is, I would of got my sisters but it was a long day and I just got tired so I said screw it I'll get the one I saw at the beginning instead of that superior tv for the same price.
