think so, and the worse part is those new shows are getting derailed before building their audience and from what i hear, MANY of the new network shows will not return
i guess you can always watch carson daly, he said he is gonna ad lib...yikes

i understand if your not getting what you want and you've negoiated, then by all means strike. but what they did is kinda selfish, cause they probably already make enough money to live a comfortable life and some, so they dont really need the money and they are given credit. my point is that the viewers suffer more than all, cause great shows are getting cut short.

I think the new shows will suffer most, as drew said.
Viewers will lose interest by the time they're back on.

well i see both sides...a writer might 'only' make 50 grand a year writing for a show like veronica mars, then the DVD sales bring in 50 million in revenue...the writers are saying those are our words that are at least partly resposible for the shows sales sucess so we should get a small slice of these profits
the precedent was set with seinfeld...jerry seinfeld is a hundred millionaire not because of stand up or acting paychecks but royalties from syndication and dvd sales
but i understand the producers side as well: they took the chance on making the show, nursed it along through development, and discovered and negotiated a new revenue stream with DVD and Digital so why should they share all their hard work and fruits of their labor with someone who has already been paid for their contribution
its a tough call

i see, but at the end of the day the viewers suffer the most.

I dont know... I'll think about it. Don't forget this will lead to repetitive commercials as well.

All shows are going to suffer. The only ones that are safe are animated series, they're protected by a clause found in a contract of the animators guild...
The only shows I will miss as of now are The Office, Dexter, and Smallville... Other than that myself and the TiVo don't have time for anything else...plus the toons are safe.

RE: Shows you will miss the most during Writer's strike
I can understand why the writers are doing this, and why they are doing it now of all times.
Having said that I'll miss Heroes and Scrubs the most. Especially because this may cost us our final season of Scrubs and leave us with only one final episode. Which is lame and would make me very angry at the writers.

( A )Syndicated Drama
( B )Late Night Television
( C )Recycled Sitcoms
( D )None of the Above
Like Fonzarelli, prime-time television jumped the shark for the sake of keeping short attention spans...
You know what we need? Night Rider.

It's getting Hoff in here!

There are some good shows amongst the overwhelming garbage... you just have to look harder to find them.

RE: Shows you will miss the most during Writer's strike
This is always true. I'm a sucker for science fiction; I used to watch Firefly on the Sci-Fi channel, but that got shitcanned! At least they were nice enough to end it with a movie.

RE: Shows you will miss the most during Writer's strike
I'm gonna miss Heroes, Supernatural, Smallville, and Desperate Housewives (Yes I'm serious about that last one.) I'm really hoping that this doesn't affect LOST since I've been waiting forever for the new season to start but I have a feeling it will. T_T
