Silent Hill: Origins [PSP]

Long story short, I borrowed a PSP and said game for a blast over the weekend.

The Good:
+ True to Silent Hill's formula.
+ Art direction and monster designs.
+ Ambience and Soundtrack.
+ Each location after the Hospital is fresh to the series and uniquely creepy.

The Bad
- Isn't sure whether it's a prequel or a standalone story with it's focus.
- Combat is a little clunky.
- In spirit, not a handheld. Playing it without headphones in a public place just doesn't work.
- Voice acting.

The Unintentionally Hilarious
? Death by Toaster
? Death by Humping
? Death by Thanksgiving Turkey
? Death by Furry Suit

Thumbs up from me overall. It was enjoyable to go through and I might do so again if those rumors of a PS2 port are actually true...

RE: Silent Hill: Origins [PSP]

Very interesting. I think every Silent Hill game that I've played has scared the Be-Jesus out of me at one point or the other, and I'm sure this would do the same. I'm glad to see the series brought to the PSP in grand fashion even if it's not perfect.

RE: Silent Hill: Origins [PSP]

I never got that "Sweet Jesus I don't want to enter this room..." feeling, but then again I'm pretty jaded. However, the flashbacks did suprise me with those ghostly voices coming out of nowhere.

If I had to rate it, I'd say it's easily a superior game to the enjoyable mess that was Silent Hill 4, but short of touching 1-3 due to the constraints of the handheld format.

I don't have a PSP so I will most likely miss on this, seemed like a great game that had the SH formula that worked.
