Skate It Confirmed
For years the skate board video game market was dominated by Tony Hawk and his (some good and some not so good) skating game franchise. For years he never faced a true challenge until some smart developers at EA decided that it was about time some one attempted to overtake skating market.
The result of EA's attempt was astounding; it was heavily praised for it's slick style and simple but effective control scheme. Skate was only released for two of the three next-gen consoles with those being the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Many people have wanted a Wii version released but were unsure of how it will work as one thing that made the other version work well was the dual analogue control.
Today IGN.com released an article confirming the game for Nintendo Wii and DS consoles with the only information being the name 'Skate It'. The article was promptly removed, it is unknown if the information given was false or if IGN.com weren't legally available to release the information.
Nothing is known at this moment but one interesting rumour to be is the inclusion of balance board controls. As always, your thoughts?

RE: Skate It Confirmed
If they could make the controls work and not tacked on, this could turn out great. I hope they don't try using the balance board...

RE: Skate It Confirmed
I'm not big fan of sports games (accept Wii Sports) but hopefully this will put up a fight with the Tony Hawk franchise.

I've played this game on the 360 and oh boy is it ever fun, I really hope it comes on the Wii, because if it does, i'll get it right after Mario Kart.

Awesome Snake & Awesome Mantis FTW!

RE: Skate It Confirmed
They changed the name to Skate It? That's sounds lame for some reason. Skate was so much cooler sounding and simple. At least they didn't change it to WiiSkate. I've played the demo of Skate for the PS3 and it was pretty cool and controlled very differently than the THPS games I have played in the past. I also remember that most people who like skating games have said they liked Skate better than THPS. For me I still like the old THPS 2 and 3 because those were the first I played on. I bet if I gave Skate a chance then I'd like it. I'm wondering if they'll make use of the Wii Fit Board for this game as it might be perfect for it.

RE: Skate It Confirmed
I really don't see how they could use the WiiFit board for the game. Granted it would be cool seeing your avatar react accordingly to your movements on the board, but how are you going to kickflip the WiiFit board? Do a nosegrind? How bout a 360 backflip? Sure you could turn left and right with it, but the controls of the board are very limited. If you mapped all the possibilities of the board to a control pad, you'd end up with around six buttons, which is the equivalent of the original NES controller. So imagine performing all those tricks of Skate with the NES controller. It's just not very plausible. If they were to use the WiiFit board, they'd have to use the remote with it to allow button press/board stance combos. Then to grind you could hold a button and shift your weight to one side or the other to stay balanced or perform different grinds. I'm not so sure how easily that could be pulled off though. I know I probably don't have the coordination to balance myself while pressing a bunch of buttons on the remote.

RE: Skate It Confirmed
Games in Wii Fit require you to use both Wii balance Board and controllers. We Ski features the same control idea and is similar to skating so it's plausible.

RE: Skate It Confirmed
Know how it uses duel analogs for the other consoles? Left analog for body stance, right analog for board control?
Well, I'm guessing the same will go for the Wii. The analog (attached to the wiimote, will control body stance, while the wiimote (with all its wiggle goodness) will control the board.
I would make a lot more sense if that turns out to be inverted. The wiimote is hardly precise enough to pull off those different combos. It'll be better for it just to control steering left and right.
