Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
The minute Sonic Unleashed was leaked across the Internet, the natural reaction for a lot of people was a negative one. After the constant bombardment of Sonic games that offered an average experience at best, people were finally growing sick of that little blue hedgehog. One example of a bad Sonic game would be Sonic The Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which has to be one of the worst Sonic titles of all time. Luckily the Nintendo Wii didn't have to put up with such a horrible game; instead Wii owners had the treat of playing Sonic and The Secret Rings which was surprisingly enjoyable.
Well supposedly SEGA are going all out on Sonic Unleashed. So it appears that the company has finally woken up and realized that the Sonic franchise is near death. Luckily Unleashed seems to be going back to the roots that made Sonic the success he is today, fast 2D gameplay! Games like Sonic Rush have proven that the classic Sonic gameplay can be pulled off with ease, even today. If SEGA managed to stick to this type of gameplay then we may be in for a treat with Sonic Unleashed.
Will Sonic Unleashed revive Sonic? Or will it put another nail in his coffin?

RE: Sonic Unleashed to revive Sonic?
I hope it does. This game looks much better than all the other things. But then again I was all hyped for Sonic and the Secret Rings which, while enjoyable, still failed to capture the magic of the original 2D sonic games. I hope SEGA redeems the little blue rodent. Otherwise he may just fade into nonexistence.

Re-release sonic boom pls.
I reckon new Sony console will be unveiled about 2012-2013, released late 2014. New xbox will be unveiled about 2011 and released christmas 2012. The new Nintendo console will just be a puppy.

By the looks of things so far for this game, I'm thinking that this will be a great new start for Sonic.

Words are nothing but words until the actions are followed through with.
Forgiving Sega for ruining Sonic because they said they were going to go all out is like me forgiving Nintendo Australia because they said they were going to look at release dates.

The game hasn't been confirmed for any consoles yet but what would you make of this.

Yeah this game is deffidently gonna bring back our awesome blue hedgehog. How can they screw up with this one? Its 2D which is sonics natural enviornment. I also heard rumors round da net that the Sonic Rush team is working on this one. Now they CANT screw up since sonic Rush and Rush Adventure were great games.

RE: Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
I hate to say it but that picture looks like a cue to press A to have sonic jump instead of you jumping on your own. Now it could be that he's going so fast in that part that you wouldn't have the timing to manually make him jump (yeah, I know pushing a button is done manually but you know what I mean).

RE: Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
Have you played Sonic Rivals? I suppose its kinda like that. On certain parts of the level you would have to paths to go. If you pressed the right button you would go the easier path which doesnt break speed. If you press the wrong path you will take the path that makes sonic a bit slower.

BrawlMario, your putting alot of faith in the dev team. Considering Sonic hasn't had a good game for a long time now.
Sure he's no doubt due for one... but I highly doubt this will be it, especially if its a "push buttons on cue" one. Thats bs.

Finally a 2D Sonic game? I'll definitely check this one out.
Oh, and when I saw the "A" button I thought its was the GC controller.

Well rumor has it that the Sonic Rush team is gettin to develop this one. Thats already a good sign since the Rush series was pretty good with its really fast gameplay and 2.5D/3D boss fights. I dont think that most of the gameplay will be a "Push buttons on cue gameplay" since on the snapshot it has what seems to be a meter around the A button. I suppose it has sum other mechanic than that. The only thing that has me worried is that they said that the Wolf version of sonic will implement its own type of gameplay. Im worried if it will end up like StarFox Assualt for the GC. The flying missions and dogfights were friggin awesome but the on foot missions were bull. Sumthin like that.

I don't like the idea of the Wolf thing... I mean, after Okami and TP I'm kinda over wolves, lol.

RE: Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
Well yeah but at least sonic is an animal and the transition to a wolf isnt going to be that drastic. Ive heard around other boards that sum didnt like the idea at first of Link turning into a wolf. But this isnt just a wolf...its a Super Fast wolf. Hey who knows. Maybe the lucky streak of a "wolf theme in a game will turn Sonic Unleashed into an awesome wolf game since okami and Zelda TP pulled it off. Lol.

RE: Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
Who know's, maybe it will. So long as there isn't an alternate realm or some paint brush magic then its all cool by me.
Honestly, I'll be happy if this restores Sonic's glory (or at least some of it) but I'm not going to get my hopes up... as there is every chance they'll be destroyed.

RE: Sonic Unleashed to Revive Sonic?
Oh yeah mos deff. Im always leaving room for disappointment. But as long as there is NO 3D platforming whats so ever in the game im good. Just stick with Sonic Rush gameplay, and Sonic Secret rings gameplay and its safe. But for some reason SEGA are extreme butterfingers when it comes to making the blue furball's games. Sure they can make other games just fine....BUT maybe they should look at the game that brought them into stardom in the first place.-_-"
