Soul Calibur IV
Anybody pick this up? I was lucky enough to snag a copy at my local Gamestop and I cannot say I'm disappointed.
The graphics are clean and crips and Vader is avaliable from the get go (no having to unlock him!). Though Starkiller is an unlockable character.
I'm getting early reports that say that Vader is the most balanced, The Apprentice has a few broken attacks and that Yoda is completely broken.

Aboslutely nothing new (at GC 2008), the only exciting thing i have seen was the killzone 2 mp trailer and i dont even own a 360.

I'm still on the fence about the game. I've been doing a lot of spending lately and really should cut back for a while, at least until LBP and GH4 arrive. I may try and sneak and get this one though.

RE: Soul Calibur IV
I have the 360 version, and Yoda is not "completely broken", but his small stature definitely makes things feel awkward and out-of-place. Haven't got to the secret apprentice yet but from what I've heard he is the most balanced of the special guests.
Other than that I really like the game. I last played SC when SCII was out on the GameCube and to my surprise I can still recall many of the moves and combos despite not playing that game for 4 years or so. Graphics are gorgeous. In general not much has changed since the second one, just more of everything: more characters, more stages, more weapons, more modes, etc. Haven't tried online yet but that is a welcomed addition as well.

same here. rather than picking up full priced games, im thinking of picking up a couple of budget titles like indigo prophecy and shadow of the colossus.

Nah, Yoda isn't that broken. The apprentice however is the most broken out of all of them. Seriously.

I've heard that Darth Vader was the most balanced and that Yoda is broken cause he's small and unable to be grabbed.
It's true the Apprentice has Force Lightning right?

RE: Soul Calibur IV
I'm thining about renting this game, but since Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast (masterpiece) and the gamecube version of Soul Calibur 2 with link, I've lost interest in the series...

RE: Soul Calibur IV
I was at the store yesterday and almost picked it up but ended up getting some blu ray movies instead. I'm not a huge fighting fan really but have owned Soul Caliber games in the past (Dreamcast and Gamecube) and may or may not get this game in the future. Perhaps I'll wait for Tekken...?

RE: Soul Calibur IV
No, no it doesn't but it's still a pretty decent fighter. I've actually be turned off by most fighting games nowadays. One of the reasons I'm not crazy about Soul Fighter is that I don't really want to fight with weapons. The thing I hate about Tekken is how people can juggle you while you float as if you were fighting in space or something.

RE: Soul Calibur IV
I agree. Haven't really found a 3-d fighter I thoroughly enjoyed. 2-d Street Fighters have always been my favorite fighting series. Alpha 3 was probably the best of the bunch for me.

RE: Soul Calibur IV
Yeah, the Street Fighter series has been one that I've enjoyed most of their games. I like the fighting style in them much better than the other fighters out there. I almost like Virtual Fighter but there are just way too many moves that are unnecessary.
