The Creative Fiasco
Do not buy a creative product. Ever again. seriously.
It's well known that Creative's vista drivers are shoddy at best. Overflows and intentionally crippled features made a talented driver modder release a selection of better unofficial drivers. About 6 months later, creative has threatened him with legal action and asked him to cease and desist.
This is a huge blow to anyone with a creative card, because they have to now wait for creative to release a new set of driver's that will likely be inferior to Daniel_K's drivers.
From what I've read the Zen MP3 Players are pale in comparison to iPod or Zune. And since Creative's support is quite possibly the worst in the world, people are stuck with periodic crashes (in a portable media player?!) and slow transfers.
My next sound card will be an Auzentech or ASUS.
I hereby recommend that everyone boycotts this company.

It's... just a sound card.
Cosmic - It's sleepy time in Kindrikland
Cappin' - It's like 10am...
Cosmic - Where is he?!
Cappin' - I'm guessing Canada

RE: The Creative Fiasco
yeah, but the point is, they're marketing them as vista ready. when they clearly are not ready.
Then a randomer comes along and does a better job than creative's 3 years of work in about 3 months.
and what do creative do? silence him :/

RE: The Creative Fiasco
nah, I need a sound-card because I have surround attached to my PC, and if you use the onboard, a lot of games ignore the additional speakers because it requires EAX and CMSS.

creative have the best hardware, it's just ashame their software is &$(£&"%(&"(*&$£& awfull.
there support has been awful for years, but i still will only buy creative cards,
Why, ... Becasue there's more than just Danny K that make drivers,
and anyway, creative can only shut him down if it's proved that hes put out drivers containing 'modified creatives', if there new from the ground up, well, i'm sorry but creative have NO comeback.

Yeah, they were modified creatives. Basically re-enabled most of the features that creative seemingly intentionally disabled for vista (even though they're available on XP) along with some stability updates.

Reading the fallout on the Creative forums. Isn't the internet great? Things spread so fast.
Has Creative had anything to say since all this came out?
