With such a heavy general opinion of The Simpsons' episode quality getting worse and worse these days, followed up by a fairly half-assed movie, do you think it's time to say farewell to our favorite yellow family, and reflect on the good times we shared together?

Of course, I know that the very thought of The Simpsons being "finished" is a sad one, but should the torturous new episodes be allowed to continue? Every time I watch a new episode I'm disappointed...

My problem is that, in my opinion, The Simpsons has lost what made it so special. In the past, episodes were based around the adventures of the family as they went through realistic scenarios. Nowadays, I turn it on and see Homer saying something retarded like "Mmmmm lemons..." and then getting run over by a truck etc. It's like The Simpsons has gone from reasonably believable to entirely unbelievable. This saddens me greatly...

I look to episodes like:

- That episode where Homer has to go to New York to get his car.

for my laughs. Anything else I usually flick off on to another channel.

I didn't see the movie, but the countless number of previews for it annoyed me so much. I think that's what made me *not* want to see the movie.

I went into the movie with low expectations. But I was greatly relieved that it was actually quite a good movie.

I don't see why people dislike the Simpsons so much, sure its not as good as its older episodes, but its not like it's "Family Guy" quality yet.

If the likes of Family Guy is still on the air, the Simpsons are more then welcome.

Obviously some of the episodes are going to be stale, consider how long it's been running? But just because some of them are stale by no means means that they should stop making Simpson episodes.

I think that around the time the movie came the episodes were getting really bad (movie was pretty good though), but lately they have been getting a bit better and I am still holding out hope that they can recapture some of its former glory from seasons ~4-12.

I like American Dad

Both Family Guy and American Dad are pretty much the same, I think the only reason American Dad was created was because Family Guy was cancelled or something, but both are funny IMO. (Are they still making new Family Guy and American Dad shows?)

I dunno about The Simpsons though, some of their stuff is funny, but most times I watch their hows it's boring to me.

i can watch family guy but not regularly-south park pretty much summed up that show for me-manatees as show writers-hilarious

The Simpsons movie has been the only highlight in The Simpsons career since the glory days.

I say its time to end the series before it embarrasses itself anymore, seriously. It's had a good run but it's time to put it down.

Let Futurama claim its rightful place as the heir, it's far funnier anyway.

I never really liked the simpsons, and I think the show should end. Just air some old ones. There are so many episodes and most people don't remember lots of them.

The Simpsons is embarrassing itself worse than Friends did.

I still really like the show, but they have to do away with Side Show Bob, because those episodes always suck.
