To anyone who has ever taken apart Wii to put a new case on, mod etc: Plug trouble
Hi I am taking apart my wii as per the instructions for my new case but I am having real trouble putting the DVD cable (not the ribbon cable) plug from the motherboard onto the plug on the DVD drive (as shown here: http://www.talismoon.com/multipage/produ...page-4.jpg ) - It just doesnt seem to go in at all, it goes in a tiny bit with the brass bits still showing but pops out as soon as I let go, it wont go all the way in
I've tried pushing it really hard, even using a screwdriver to push the little white plug very hard, but still nothing, I am worried I will break it if I try to force it too much too
Any suggestions please please, this is really annoying me it's pretty much the last problem before I can put the final top of the case on and play on my new wii (i bought the case and wii together but it came with default white one)
thanks for any help :S
It's the same bit as shown here, the second red-circled one on the right

Can you get enough torque on the pins with a safety pin, a toothpick, or the end of a paperclip, perhaps? I'm trying to think of remotely strong objects that are superduper tiny.
I've got no idea what the black thing is. Is it impeding anything?

I'll try that if theres no foolproof method, thanks... its possible... im just worried about getting them even more bent since they arent that bad at the moment
it doesnt look like the black thing is impeding anything, i think it could be a fabric fragment or something, no idea... it may have been in there before i removed the plug I don't know

Use a tweezers/pliers? Pins are built to be robust.

The plug socket is about 4mm high and 15mm wide with 12 pins inside the top bit and 12 pins at the bottom, pliers or tweezers are just not gonna happen at all - this is not like the pins in an old style printer socket these are really really tiny

You could try using the metal hollow tip from a mechanical pencil (or a thick syringe, like would be used for wallpaper injecting maybe), or a WD-40 straw (likewise, craft stores would have small straws). A watch or eyeglass repair kit will have tiny screwdrivers. You could also try an ingrown hair tweezer as they have thin tips, or a jumper that you hang on to with thin pliers.
If you are in the SE US let me know and I can help you with it (or if you want to ship it). Good luck!

don't have a mechanical pencil or ingrown hair tweezer (didnt even know that existed lol) though if it would work, i'd buy one just for this haha, my wii in pieces has been sitting on my living room table for 3 days now ... 2 of those days I was trying to force it in so im glad its not as damaged as it could be now that I know what is causing the problem -
why would a wallpaper need an injection? and what's wd 40? i'm in the UK - what do you mean by a jumper?
watch/eyeglass repair kit sounds like something I could probably buy fairly easily but again not sure if would be small enough.....
edit: in fact i dont think a mechanical pencil tip would be small enough probably either, like I said in previous post the height of the plug socket is about 4mm
the picture I drew in Paint is zoomed in many times the actual size of it
