UPDATED: Wipeout HD

Did you hear that thud? That's the sound of our jaws accelerating to the floor, smashing into a million tiny pieces. New images of Wipeout HD have surfaced at PlayFrance, and they look absolutely stunning.

What makes this more impressive is that all of these images will be running in full 1080p HD resolution, and at a silky smooth 60fps. That's almost unheard of in this generation of games. Imagine how exhilarating it will be to race these stunning tracks with Wipeout's trademark sense of speed.

The French interview also reveals a few other interesting tidbits. Development of the game started less than a year ago, with a team of only six people. The team has grown to about 30 people now, with 3 of them having worked on the original PS1 Wipeout so many years ago. Although the game is just an HD version of the PSP games, the reworked textures and graphics will make it feel like a completely different experience. Also, expect licensed music from Kraftwerk, Mason, DJ Fresh and Stanton Warriors to return -- this time in glorious 5.1 surround sound. We can't wait for more.

I really hope this game is awesome.  This seems like the perfect way to usher in a classic game into the next gen universe.

RE: Wipeout HD: 1080p, 60fps and jaw-droppingly gorgeous

Told ya so XD

But in all seriousness, I may have to buy a PS3 for this and WipEout PS3 (WipEout HD is essentially an engine test)

WipeOut = Better F-Zero right?

And 1080p@60FPS will mean it's fast

you have diehard fans in both camps, so I won't venture to say that one is better then the other. 1080p means it will have a great resolution and should look great, and 60fps means it should run very smooth, and we hope very fast.

Big Grin

I'm so happy they've not sacrificed the speed. Let's hope it plays like Wipeout 3 and not Wipeout Pulse

RE: UPDATED: Wipeout HD

The WipEout series has always had excellent soundtracks and WipEout HD promises to be no exception. Sony has today revealed the full music list for the game, along with a plethora of other details, most of which we've seen before. The full soundtrack for the game is as follows:

* MoveYa! & Steve Lavers: Chemical
* Stanton Warriors: Tokyo
* DJ Fresh: X-Project (100% Pure mix)
* Ed Rush, Optical & Matrix: Frontline
* Noisia: Seven Stitches
* MIST: Smart Systems
* Mason: Exceeder - Special mix
* Booka Shade: Steady Rush
* Kraftwerk: Aero Dynamik

Nothing on that list take your fancy? That's okay, WipEout HD will feature full custom soundtrack support, just like its PSP cousin, Wipeout Pulse. That means you can speed along at 600kph whilst listening to something wholly inappropriate, if you so wish.

RE: UPDATED: Wipeout HD

I'm loving that it has the custom soundtrack support in it. I do normally like the music of the Wipeout games but it's nice to have other options if I get bored of them.

PSN - ManaBurnX

Wii: 1264 4326 1419 0974

SSBB - 5069-3654-7609 (MBX)

MK Wii - forgot it but will add later

If you add me please PM so I'll know
