RE: Which Characters Do You Use The Most?
As you can see, my most-used characters are slowbies-- Gdorf, D3, and Ike. Plus, I play with a slowed-down Fox clone and two really methodical characters in Ness and Lucas.
Slowness is my world. Gdorf has always been alluring to me, and I think the slight changes in moveset from Melee to Brawl have finally made him really useable for me.
I've only played one person from Wiiloaded online, and we took 2 from each other in 4 matches. I kinda want to see how I stack up against Brawl gods like say, Cloud up there, but that lag-- It ruins the gameplay for me.
I also use D3 and I'mm good with Charizard, the both have attacks that come out fast and aren't yoo slow for me. Usually 1 vs 1 i don't have lag and not to be harsh but Cloud and his TL will DESTROY you D: I do wish someone could be Cloud D:

Cloud's Toon Link is beatable, besides it gets an automatic advantage by being Toon Link to start with.
The lag will make it eternally hard though.

Lag Makes even the easiest match hard as crap. Its those rare instances where you experience no lag that really makes smashing online worthwhile....

I dont know about "pounded" but yeah lag makes those combos annoying. Lol. Also its a bit harder to recover since it doesn't read all of the button presses accurately.

Yeah. Useully slow characters are really powerful! Like Ike, for instence. His smash attacks send people flying!
The lag is horrible though. That's really the only bad thing about Brawl.

Sonic even loves the Wii now!

RE: Which Characters Do You Use The Most?
Cloud's Toon Link is beatable, besides it gets an automatic advantage by being Toon Link to start with.
The lag will make it eternally hard though.
After a few matches with Cloud's TL, he gets much easier (predictable). Also, he is not good with items (jumps off the stage with the hammer), SDs the rest of his lives if he dies too "easily" early on, and steals your lives in team battle if he goes out first.
In Melee, my mains were Mario and Falco. Falco has been changed so much that he is almost unusable for me, at least with the lag as I need lag free play to be any good with him (air attacks and quick hits). As for Mario, I can't use him often because many online matches are itemless, and he really plays items well (didn't realize so many people don't use/like them).
Thus now I've been using Wolf (faster than the sword welders but with good attack range, body moves with many attacks) for ground fighting and Sheik for fast/aerial fighting.
I'll throw in Captain Falco or ROB every now and then. Still taking applications for my long term main though! Only been using Wolf for 2-3 days now, and has been fairly effective in online battles.

I guess I'd say I'm best with Pit, but that's against the computer. I generally don't use him against human opponants. I like to randomly choose characters on a whim. I've been working snake into my line-up more and more, but I'm not really that great (as the computer can kick my butt on lower levels).

O please z6.
1 v 1 with items I lose
1 v 1 without items I win.
So what? I'm not good with items, without items or can I say the non cheap way, I reap.
I do get predictable I know, hence why I barely do Dair anymore, unless I know its gonna hit.

I personally like items, I'm good with or without them. It's just most people prefer not to have them and forget to witch it back when i have the option.

I managed too beat him once, but I haven't faced them since then.

True true. I win with items turned off since the items are like a wild card. You dont know wut the hells gonna happen lets say with a pokemon ball or assist trophy. I prefer items off since ive played like that back in melee (when i got into the tournament battles.)

RE: Which Characters Do You Use The Most?
Unpredictability is exactly why you should play with items. It adds another element that you have to roll with/adapt to. Playing without is like playing on Final Destination (my fav stage btw) every time. Just go play Virtual Fighter or something if that's how you want to Brawl.
There is nothing cheap about items. The IS something cheap about changing the default options because you are incapable of playing the way the game is supposed to be played. (Stacking the game to your stronger points)
Either way, when you played me, it was my *first* day to ever use Wolf. I do believe I held my own quite well considering I was using a character new to me.
It is better to let other people say that you are good rather than boast about your skills* in a public forum. People might take you more seriously then.
*Some restrictions apply. Skills only available with Toon Link, in matches that are 1 vs 1, on stages with no natural hazards, which are won. Matches lost are not an indication of skill or lack of skill, but rather changing conditions that are not controllable and thus not applicable. Skills guarantee void in the appearance of Crate, Barrel, Capsule, Party Ball, Sandbag, Blast Box, Beam Sword, Home-Run Bat, Fan, Lip’s Stick, Star Rod, Hammer, Golden Hammer, Bob-omb, Motion-Sensor Bomb, Gooey Bomb, Smart Bomb, Deku Nut, Freezie, Smoke Ball, Pitfall, Hothead, Mr. Saturn, Green Shell, Banana Peel, Bumper, Spring,Unira, Soccer Ball, Super Scope, Ray Gun, Fire Flower, Cracker Launcher, Food, Maxim Tomato, Heart Container, Team Healer, Smash Ball, Dragoon Parts, Super Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, Warp Star, Starman, Metal Box, Bunny Hood, Superspicy Curry, Timer, Lightning, Franklin Badge, Screw Attack, Assist Trophy, Poke Ball, CD, Trophy, Sticker, Key, Trophy Base, Stock Ball, Coins and Bills, Bombs, Vegetable, Peach, Gyro. RE: Which Characters Do You Use The Most?
Joker, I'm actually with Cloud here. The items are broken. FAR more broken than Melee's items.
Whilst I understand where your coming from, you have to understand that it throws out what little balance Smash games have when you use items. If you can win with the help of broken objects, then awesome. More power to you. But there's nothing more satisfying than a win you've earned with your own skill, not a well timed home run bat or final smash.
I like fun item matches, but if someone wants to be able to brag about beating me then they need to do so without items.

It is a highly debatable subject around the Internet, and I expect no less here. You act like picking up an item automatically wins a match for you. You have to beat the other person to it, and then use it, and they have to NOT dodge/block/counter it. It changes the style of play on the fly for both players, but each player STILL has to have skill to kill the other regardless of who has what item. Would you claim that changing from Zelda to Sheik in mid-match is unfair? It might not be the same thing, but it isn't much different if you think about it. Items change what a character is capable of. The other player HAS to have the SKILL to adapt to that change.
Perhaps the non-items users are not experts without items, but novices with them. There is a reason that some players can win much more often with items. It's not because they magically appear beside me and "luck" helps me win. It's because I know how to use them, and I fight to get them first, and I dodge/counter the ones I don't get well. No, I'm not that great of a player, but when I can regularly beat a self described "expert" just by turning items on, somebody lacks something.
EDIT: I think the disconnect here is that some people view using items as a negation of skill, while others view them as a proof of additional skill. To use your words, though, why does something have to be "balanced". Even chess isn't balanced (mirrored board, first turn advantage, etc). Why not have only one playable character, and one playable stage. That will "balance" things so that neither player can exploit the other's weakness. Pong sounds good, no?
Why would it be any less satisfying to beat someone with a final smash? Why is is more satisfying if you don't use items? Wouldn't it be MOST satisfying if you could beat someone IN SPITE of them having a bat? That's how I've always played.
As I said before, if you can't handle items, great, at least term it that way. Don't claim that it requires more *skill* to play without them. It's just a way to alter the game to make up for a shortcoming by a player.
