Well, it would be nice for online stradegy games...
Actually, it's must, since you wouldn't be able to type during a game...

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)
Which will probably be false.
If SSBB manages to have 2v2 in online then a mic will be NECESSARY. As a big part of 2v2 matches is the ability to communicate with your team-mate.
No mic = not many 2v2 matches.
It would also be cool in future FPS games for the Wii... basically it could have many uses... Nintendo should obviously make one.

Yes, an FPS like Battlefield 2142.. I'm not sure about graphics, but hey, whatever works is fine with me.
I would like to play it without constantly freezing due to my crappy computer....
And a mic is neccesary in online team games, with out one, there won't be much teamwork, unless you both have ESP.

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)
Well the Wii does have BlueTooth. Maybe the mic is just a BT device?..
Not likely at all. I'm sure Nintendo have it set up so that only 4 Wii remotes can link up to it at a certain frequency, because otherwise wouldnt we be seeing all these youtube videos where modders hook up cell phones and stuff to their wii. i'm guessing that if a headset comes out, it'll be in 2 parts. One part, a bluetooth dongle, will plug into one of the USB ports. And the second part, will be the headset (wireless).
Also to anyone who thinks headsets are useless, you are so damn wrong. Look at SOCOM and GRAW. Sure there are a lot of spam-talking 8 year olds, but all of these can be muted at the touch of a button. I'm sure GameSpy will be heavily influencing the use of a headset.
And on a final note, HSM means High School Musical. A really crappy disney kids movie that is packaging a microphone with its wii game. It's even confirmed on GameStops release list. See: Nintendo Wii forum

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)
hell yeah a mic would be awesome but it would suck if its attached to the remote, but for games like SSBB FFCC MP3 and BW it would be an awesome periferal

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)
I'd only buy the mic as long as i know it won't be used in a stupid singstar crap game. Those games were so bad i cannot believe people actually bought them. You could speak or hum the tune to get a good score! But co-op or similar would be an awesome idea!

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)
yea i'd have to see some more games using it and see how its used. the mic in the DS and DS lite is pointless IMO.

When did they say they werent making one. I thought they just never "announced" one. Well we know for positive that there is DEFINITELY a mic coming out. but its just as part of HSM (see above). But that means its possible

Maybe if they released a version of Karaoke Revolution, then I could see why they'd release a mic.

RE: Wii Mic (Everyone leave an opinion)

Not likely at all. I'm sure Nintendo have it set up so that only 4 Wii remotes can link up to it at a certain frequency, because otherwise wouldnt we be seeing all these youtube videos where modders hook up cell phones and stuff to their wii. i'm guessing that if a headset comes out, it'll be in 2 parts. One part, a bluetooth dongle, will plug into one of the USB ports. And the second part, will be the headset (wireless).
Wrong. First of all you have to understand a little bit about how Bluetooth works. A BT master device can connect to up to 7 other devices (8 devices interconnected as a 'piconet'). Up to 255 more devices can be connected in a inactive state and can be activated at any time by the master device. So why haven't we seen this happen where so-called modders are connecting random BT devices to their Wii? Because things just don't work that way. BT devices use a security method (SAFER+ cipher) to encrypt their traffic, including the authentication key required to initially connect. Therefore such 'modders' would have their work more than cut out for them to connect any random device to their Wii. Furthermore, why would they want to? Well they don't, mainly because there aren't really any devices out there that would even know how to communicate with a Wii anyway, so there would be no point. When is the last time you heard of someone connecting their BT cellphone to their PC as a BT keyboard? Never, because it's not compatible as that type of device. Same concept here. The Wii just doesn't support random BT devices.
Now before you reply with "oh yeah? well they've connected wiimotes to BT-enabled computers and used them to blah blah"... The peripheral devices such as wiimotes (and possibly future BT headsets) aren't the ones that enforce the authentication, because they don't act as a master device. So wiimotes can be connected to any BT master device easy as pie. Rebuttal is moot point.
So, in short, you're wrong. BT headset/mics are a very likely and also a very logical possibility. BT dongle in order to have a BT headset? No.
