Types of Chips

First thing to know is the types of chips the Wii has and their compatibility.


GC2-DMS – so far no pins cut and are moddable
GC2R-D2A – so far no pins cut and are moddable
GC2-D2B – found with/without pins cut but both are still moddable
GC2-D2C – so far no pins cut and only compatible with d2ckey modchip

This thread contains some illegal links

It isn't illegal to buy or use a modchip so those links should be ok. The very last link is iffy since it mentions N64 roms but it doesn't give a link where to get them so it should be alright as well.

Yes but there is a direct link to a site where you can buy them. It's not illegal to buy them, but on WiiLoaded it is illegal to mention where to buy them.

He's not promoting their site or saying to buy their goods. He is just providing information about different kinds of modchips and listing the links to the websites with the information (how to install).

It links to a site which provides access to modchips, but as D4rk said, the chip is only the hardware.... but anyway me and Mana resolved this hours ago

you and Mana resolved it? you disagreed with Mana on whether it was within forum regulations. then d4rk came in and made it clear he's doing nothing against forum rules. sounds to me like d4rk and Mana resolved it

this isn't the first time we've talked about Wiikeys. it's not illegal to buy them or install them. what you do with them is another story. so as long as you use good judgment and stay within the realm of legality, there's no problem here
