Here it is folks. The keystone in the bridge towards WiiWare has been set, and it comes in the form of a Wii Firmware Update.

See that shimmering, icy blue glow emanating from your Wii? That's it! To download it, just turn on your Wii, access the Wii Message Board, open the Nintendo letter and then click the corresponding download button. While this new update appears to do nothing visually to the Wii OS, it does appear to be vitally important for hopeful adopters of Nintendo's much talked about original content download service, launching five days from now in Japan.

As of yet, there have been no confirmations on whether or not this update will affect any of the latest Wii hacks, namely the Wii Freeloader and the Twilight Hack, two things which there have been fears of a Nintendo lockout of since they first arrived.

I'm going to be terrified every time there's an update now...

I seen one of XGEN Studios games is making its way to the wiiware

its called "Defend your Castle" theres a vid floating out there on youtube i seen it a lil while ago its pretty tight

i just hope wiiware beats the hell outta XBL

I thought you were importing the game lmx? Why do you care about Freeloader?

Yeah it still works. Brawl (and other import games) beat Wiiware for me too, so I won't be accepting any updates from now on until I've checked multiple sources.

You need the Freeloader to play the import game, unless you have a foreign/modded Wii.

Alright, thanks Napalm. I'll install this update then. My freeloader is mere days away and Brawl only a day or two behind it.

This also unofficially confirmed WiiWare for May 2008 in PAL regions too.

Anyone for PAL getting wiiware a day earlier than US as some supposed epic apology? -.-

That's how many Wii points the person has I believe. Updates will never cost us points (I'd hope)

updated this morning. went much faster than the previous update.

I can't even seem to update. Perhaps there are too many people doing so at the moment. I can connect to the internet using my Wii and use all of the features but when trying to download the update I get an error. I'll try again tomorrow.

Hmmm, I say try later. It's probably a glitch.
