Wario Ware Smooth Moves
Rated E10+ for Everyone 10+
For the Nintendo Wii

Oh no! Wario’s food has been stolen by some freakish little creature! As he runs to catch up with the little freak he runs into a temple and finds himself some treasure. What treasure you ask? Why the Form Baton of course!

Wario Ware will have you bending, twisting, jumping and flicking all day long as you try to play your way through over 200 micro games. Enjoy!

Wario Wares story is different; but hey that’s what people have come to expect from Wario Ware games, a weird story. But in Wario the story really doesn’t matter that much and doesn’t hold a large place in the game.

But now it all starts off with Wario eating food and watching some TV, when suddenly a funny little creature runs into your house and steals your food. So naturally Wario runs off to catch him and finds himself inside a temple were he finds the form baton. Now the entire game is based around this form baton and you do tons of weird things without throughout the game.

So as the story progresses you unlock more and more people and modes to play. The story itself is usually quite odd but hey it keeps the game moving. But frankly the story isn’t that important in Wario Ware but is still quite odd and funny.

Now Wario Ware isn’t a graphical powerhouse let alone even looking slightly real…or human. But Wario’s style is funny and very original. It’s also very welcoming and you will really enjoy it when playing it due to the speed of the game and the sheer craziness of everything that’s going on. So when playing you’ll find that even though the visuals look weird it really fits in to the game while playing.

If you’re wondering just what kind of style is Wario Ware anyways? Well it’s incredibly hard to describe as there are so many different styles of visuals in the game, there’s some funny cartoony visuals to some full on 3D. But it’s quite safe to say that there far from the ordinary.

Even though Wario Ware has such a weird look it still fits and is the best sort of graphics for a game like Wario Ware. It simply fits perfectly and you never really will have too many complaints when playing. Although there are a few that you will find disgusting and looks like a 6 year old could do better. But there aren’t many like that.

Gameplay is the essence of a Wario game, not too mention crazy! You have many different forms to perform while playing Wario Ware., from forms like the waiter to the Mohawk. Each form adding a whole new depth to the gameplay that would unfold after getting a new form.

This game will have you twisting and turning in all different directions while playing the game. Plus you’ll have an incredible amount of fun while playing the game. Wario boasts some of the craziest forms of play ever in the game. You’ll hold the Wii-remote like a dumbbell, or just like a plain remote but whatever the position it’s going to add a whole new level of possibilities for micro games and it’s safe to say that Wario Ware delivers in diverse and fun micro games.

Wario Ware has a great single player game, you first start by playing through Warios micro-games and after you beat at least one series (in other words beat up to the first boss in each one) you will unlock a new stage to play and will keep advancing like that until you’ve eventually beaten the single player. This is all fine and dandy and you can go back to play the game and unlock new games until you have every single micro-game.

Multiplayer only comes into play after you’ve beaten the entire story mode. That could be annoying if you want to just go lounge around and play it at your friends but hey it’s acceptable and make sense. Regarding the multiplayer games you have 4 different modes. Each mode offers a different style of play. Like one your Mii is an angel flying up high in the air. This one can be played with up to 12 players! You simply pass the remote around, now if you lose a micro-game well your Mii plummets to the ground making it last man flying wins. There are also games like Darts, frankly darts is incredibly fun and my friend and I must have played darts for a straight hour!

Amongst it all there’s tons of great things in Wario Ware and one nice thing is to see the inclusion of the Miis. In all 4 multiplayer modes you will use your Mii which is great and I hope we will see more of this in the future! So my closing comment on the gameplay would have to be, well it is incredible!

Wario Ware is also incredibly important in the control section. You have tons of forms which add a whole new level of depth to the controls that no game has ever done before. You have things that vary from holding a remote on your head to simply holding it like a remote, each one ads control like you’ve never imagined.

The controls usually always work, there is that moment were you may have lifted the Wii-Remote up to high and lost connection to the sensor bar but that rarely happens. Games like the ones were you have to do crunches (move up and down) work completely fine and actually feel great. While one micro-game which is making a pile of paper go straight never seems to work. But that’s only one micro-game out of some 200+ games. No big deal.

I’d have to say Wario Ware hits the nail on the head when discussing the controls. Good job.

Wario Wares music is nothing special but fits perfectly with the game which is truly an important factor. It starts out at a moderate pace and as you start to beat more and more micro-games it will pick up and start going faster and faster while still maintaining an enjoyable tune.

Some of the sounds will make you burst out laughing as you complete the micro-games. They have noises from monkeys to odd little beeps from weird machines and the like. They even have some very nice songs like “Tomorrow hill”. This fits in well and will make you want to listen to it.

Which comes to the wonderful add on of the music tester/listener. After beating the entire game you can listen to all the tracks and even compose them like a conductor, which works fine.

So the music rules, the sounds are cool and the music tester adds a lovely touch to the all around wonderful package.

Wario Ware is worth every penny that you will spend to get it. Do I recommend it well duh! I say go get it now! On the other note it has incredible replay value since it’s all micro-games and you can even play them individually. So, you should definitely go out and buy this game! What are you doing reading this! Go!

Story-8.5/10
-It’s Wario Ware; it’s not going to be incredible.

Visuals-9.5/10
-The visuals fit almost seamlessly with the games style.

Gameplay-10/10
-It’s fun and addictive, what more must I say?

Controls-9.5/10
-Works for the most part.

Sound-9/10
-Perfect for a Wario Ware game.

Overall-9/10
(Not an Average.)

I hope you enjoyed my review and would love some feed back. Remember, keep on reading reviews!

RE: alex51011 Reviews: Wario Ware Smooth Moves

I heard that the "controls for this minigame" which shows before each minigame ruins the warioware effect....did this effect your expierence at all? because i dont want to get this game if it going to be like minigame-->stop to look at controlls-->minigame-->stop..etc

O it certainly doesn't ruin the effect or I would have mentioned it. Big Grin

It goes really quickly, it's like the little pause in most Wario games and only lasts a second or two. Trust me it won't devoid you of the Wario Ware experience! Big Grin

Alex is right rottentreats. When you play single player mode they will explain it to you once. After you've seen it once then they won't show you how to do it again. When you play multiplayer they just show a brief picture with a title to show you how to hold the controller. It is very fast and you won't be affected at all. This is a great game and if you like any of the previous Wario games I'm sure you'll love this one. Best party game at the moment in my opinion. Don't forget the 12 player mode as well!
