i finally got around to buying this game for dirt cheap. i've been hearing some pretty good user reviews out there and some suggested that i play this to get some sort of idea of the quality that Silicon Knights puts into their games. they'll be releaseing an xbox360 game soon called Too Human. oh, and they are also the creators of the 'Legacy of Kain' series. i was totally blown away by Eternal Darkness just by its intro. i only played a couple of chapters, but this game is seriously intense. as far as (survival)horror games on the gamecube, this one takes the cake without a doubt. the RE remakes are cool and all, but i experienced those on the PS first, so for me, those dont count.

i was really surprised that this game has an option to go widescreen. controls are a little clunky, but they work. the ambient sounds coupled with the background music makes this game creepy as hell! the graphics are pretty cool, but nowhere near the caliber of RE4. this game definitely beats out RE4 in the sound department. also, there's so much macabre art on the walls, during a narration, or on scrolls and what not. some of the stuff they drew up is just plain cool, yet creepy. the whole package just draws you into the full experience.

you guys cant miss out on this game. buy it, play it at night with your door closed and volume decently high then prepared to pee your pants.
Please tell me where you got a copy, i've been looking high and low for ED for a good price

y=a
i got it off ebay slightly used for about $20 total. i dont think the seller knew he had a semi-rare game in his hands. the disc and booklet are in mint condition; it only had finger smudges.

there was also a couple of copies at my nearest gamestop, but they didnt come with the original case and were also $20(not including tax).
Welcome to the club. Start checking pawn shops and gamestores. I've seen numerous copies for under $15. ED is one of my favorite games on the GC, and it came out w/i 6-7 months of launch.

Check ebay, there are about 20 of them and nobody's bidding.
eternal darkness is "rare"??

weird... I got it back when it came out. bloody love that thing. beat it following all of the lines too...
I got this game right after it came out, and it stands as one of my favorite games ever. Truly one of the more underappreciated games to come out as it never sold really well (although not bad). I am really looking forward to Too Human, but please Silicon Knights make a sequel!!
I love the storys and voice acting.absolutely phenominal. My only gripes were that the controls/movement were a tad sluggish, but don't let this fool you. This game is a gem. I beat it 3 times in a row after picking it up.

Also, it took me about 3-4 hours before I really got into it. Once you get the sanity meter, things start getting fun. Smile
let's not ruin any of the sanity meter surprises for those who haven't played.

if you didn't go through checking the whole house, you should. there are several goodies in the bathroom
Who gave away any spoilers?
none yet. let's keep it that way Wink
Well, just won an e-bay oction for ED, i can't wait...

*Cyber Eye starts glowing red*

Yea, i think i'm going to like this game if it is 1/2 as scarry as System Shock 2

3-4 hours? how many chapters did you go through during that time? i think i just hit the 5 hour mark and i've done a bunch of chapters and have got a bunch of magic spells that i rarely use.

i find that walking around the mansion is actually more freaky than doing the chapters.

The sanity meter was what I liked about it the most. I want spoil anything for you guys but you'll get some great surprises and that's what made this game so fun for me. All the unexpected things that happen.

I don't remember exactly, but I do remember I wasn't fully into the game until about the 3rd or 4th level when the game really gets going.

I've been looking to pick this up recently with no luck. I wish I would've tried it out back when it was first released cause it seems like I let a great game get past me. If you've already played the game what'd you think. It's only $10 now so I'm going to get it regardless.
Omg. I was JUST about to post a thread on this game, I'm also looking for it, and also looking for people to tell me what they think of it! Tell me if you find anything out. I already know a little from just reading about it, if you want to know anything, just ask me, and I might know it. ((Maybe.))
Its f'ing brilliant
I heard it was. I wanna play it so bad. =/
this is one of the best games on the Gamecube. the graphics aren't too pretty, but the story and gameplay is incredible. it should be in every 'cube owner's library.
