Her its if you go into Academic for your highschool years, you can go into University, if you take applied its College.
Alright got my Schedule and all this stuff, then this happens.

My mom put me in Academic and I have my Schedule which is for mostly Applied. but I could switch too academic, but I plan to do good in Grade 9 then move it up too harder work in grade 10.

What do you think guys?
not sure about europe but the UK uses 5 schools, first you go to nursery until your four, then primary school until your eleven, then secondary school until your 16, then you can get a trade such as plumbing or carpentary or you can go to college until you are 18 then you can go to university. then theres further education and stuff but those are the main five
Thats pretty interesting lol, i just had a k-6 elementary school and a 7-12 high school, lived in a small town too, only 250 people.

Oh and i'm taking volunteers to take my cisco 3 & 4 classes for me........they give me headaches

This is the Irish system:

Primary School -

  • Junior Infants ------ Start School at 4
  • Senior Infants
  • 1st Class
  • 2nd Class
  • 3rd Class
  • 4th Class
  • 5th Class
  • 6th Class ------ Leave Primary at 12

Secondary School -
  • 1st Year ------ Start Secondary at 12
  • 2nd Year
  • 3rd Year
  • Transition Year (optional work experience year; not very popular)
  • 5th Year (I'm going into this in Sept.)
  • 6th Year ------ Leave school at 18

University etc.

University is free in Ireland

Third Year has the Junior Cert. exams and they're easy.

Sixth Year has the Leaving Cert. exams and they determine your career options like the SATs in USA I believe?

So technically, since I'm in my second last school year, I'm a Sophomore in the American system.

So anyway, I just got my schedule. Sort of weird and crazy with double classes popping up at worst of times, but whatever.... Double computers for 6 weeks, then Gym for 6 weeks, then Career Guidance for 6 weeks, keeps going in a circle
Highschool is overrated... there really isn't anything hard about it. I mean its pretty much the exact same going from 8th grade to 9th grade as it is going from 3rd grade to 4th grade...

thats pretty true, does get harder in college though, though maybe not because of harder classes but because of that freedom and not having parents there to say "GO TO SCHOOL" and stuff Toungue

That right there is a BOLD FACE LIE. I go to a very academic high school. What we get taught and the amount of homework given is way more difficult than just some regular high school. On top of all the work, rising seniors have to start a senior thesis and complete by their senior year. We have to have 26 credits when we graduate, when other schools in the state it's only 20-24. The majority of our classes are Honors. On top of that we must complete a minimum amount of 4 AP classes as well as 120 hours of community service by the time we graduate. At my school it's FAR from the same thing.

LOL...I is a senior this year.

Faith integration project. HA! Adds up to well over 100 hours of work.

Pwnt.
Um, I'm bored, and I still have the papers, so
9th:
Honors History
Advanced Algebra 2
Honors Biology
Spanish Intermediate 1
Visual Basic
Advanced English

10th
College (AP) US History 1
Honors Chemistry
Advanced Geometry
Spanish Int 2
Pascal
Advanced English

11th
College (AP) US History 2
Honors Physics
Advanced Pre-calculus
Advanced Spanish
Java
Honors English

12th
College (AP) Economics
College (AP) Biology
College (AP) Physics
College (AP) Calculus BC (96+ in AA2 / ADV GEO)
College (AP) Enlgish
College (AP) Spanish.

Hence, why I graduated college with a masters in 3.5 years...
where'd ya go though?

My entire high school "career" has been prep for college. MIT FTW!

Well, I just got myself in a routine, school then doing homework straight after, and if any tests come up, study an hour right before bed to have it fresh in my mind in the morning. The work isn't too difficult either... at least in the classes i took it wasn't. The only subject i really struggled in was algebra... man i suck at that subject.
also we needed 24 crdits to graduate, alot of people got those halfway through senior year and graduated at Winter break. I graduated with 25.5 credits, I only took 5 classes second semester senior year. ahh that was nice coming home at lunch every day. however being out of school is even better... although im starting to feel like a bum >.>

I got accepted to MIT, but with no scholoarship (they don't give them), and I came from very little, so I was forced to go to St.  Joeseph's University, for free (full scolarship).  I would have loved to go to MIT, but my Dad was a maintence man, and my mom a catholic school teacher (separated when i was 14), so I had no way to afford books/meals and all the upfront costs at MIT, even if I got deffered loans for the education.

Are you still in HS?  Best of luck getting into MIT.

Yeah, I'd be on the "lower" side of acceptance.

I'm pretty sure MIT's financial aid is need-based only. (I have the brochure right in front of me). Therefore, wouldn't you be a candidate for the MOST money? What about 3rd party scholarships?

If I'm not accepted, I'll have to defer from the #1 engineering school to #9, University of Michigan. Should be a piece of cake getting in there. hahaha
i miss highschool. i graduated in 2003 and i deeply miss it. i went to public school up until the end of 10th grade- from 11th- 12th, i went to jewish private school

highschool in my private school was a total joke. we took religious classes in the morning up until 12PM and then from 12-5 we took regular classes (academic classes). now, given my schedule, people would b*tch that the days were too long. TBH i never noticed. i had such a blast. there were litterally 30 kids in my entire "school" which was more like a hallway we shared a building with a temple and another pre-k school. the 30 kids consisted of middle school, and HS students- i graduated with 5 other kids! doh!

we got away with murder and our tests were such a joke.....ill never forget for my AP psychology test we didnt even take one! he gave us all 5's anyways. for criminology? the regents final exam question was "who livs in a pineapple under the sea" i swear to god lmao.

if i could go back in time i so would!!

in public school i was in a ton of sports and didnt really care about grades. i had about a C+ average and went to summer school because i didnt care (had personal problems going on when i was younger like my parents divorce). its not that i was a "bad student or a delinquent" it was that i was the underdog- i could score 100 on a test and not do anything or go to class and that pissed alot of teachers off. i was also self involved with cheerleading, colorguard, softball, and my friends.

thats what my HS was like. i barely remember any classes except for the fun ones lol.

Still, it wasn't enough to be comfortable, that aid doesn't cover books, food, boarding, which is expensive in Cambridge/Boston.

welcome to college

some of my good friends went to stonybrook university which is one of the most pretigious colleges for persuing a medical career and lemme tell you, they got "financial aid" alright but boy were they paying out the ass for EVERYTHING. books were atleast 100$ and if they went to return them after the semester? no one would take them because they were out of date!

im glad i went into court stenography/criminal justice. books werent expensive, my parents paid my tuition and i didnt get raped in my wallet!

im going back in the spring for free this time because my mom is a teacher and she said to complete my bacholers degree, i can attend Smile

not sure if i want to though, work is such a b*tch! plus if i take NYPD training courses, they go towards college credit. right now my bf has a masters degree from all the stuff hes taken (he has a bacholers degree in sociology)

dont get old kids!

Eh, I don't balk at paying off school loans as much. If I'm 10,000 in the hole or so when I get out of 4 years, I'll be fine. I am fairly poor ever since Michigan's economy went out the window. I have good financial self-control.

*has always gone to college when playing the game of life*. LMFAO
FreshMEAT FTW!!!!!!

Plus, even if they take the books, they give you pocket change, at best, for them, and go around and resell them for a hefty price anyway.

@brawny
Unless your parents have money, you'll certainly have more than $10k of debt out of MIT.
