Retailers estimate that one in every three Microsoft Xbox 360’s sold fails leaving frustrated owners staring at the red ring of death, or worst a black screen that reads “disc unreadable”. When compared to other systems, former EB games associate Matthiew G said…

“Failure rates for all other consoles were not high enough for EB to consider revising their policies. Most other console systems have a failure rate of less than one percent, including the PlayStation 3.”

Not to be left out of the conversation, when another EB Games manager was asked if the store warranty was “worth the price”, he mentioned that the Nintendo Wii, with hundreds of units sold at their location has had ZERO come back as defective. We can hear Nintendo executives patting themselves on the back right now, no wait that’s just thunder.

A Best Buy associate who chose to remain anonymous claimed that the failure rate of the Microsoft Xbox 360 was in the ballpark of “between a quarter to a third” of the systems sold.

I was unlucky, My first Wii had these virticle pixly lines all over the screen when I tryed to play it, and it also wouldn't let me finish Zelda, so I sent it back and got a new one. Then my sister had to go and throw my Wiimote up at the cieling while playing bowling and breaking it, so I had to send for a new Wiimote, and then while I was playing TimeSplitters, my Cats ran in my GC controlers wires at top speed, breaking the controler cover, so I had to get a new one of that.

And also my DS Lite had the crack, so I had to get a new DS Lite.
wow...that's really unlucky

you need to switch the carrot in the title. The failure rate of the PS3+Wii is lower than the 360, not higher
So bassicly the only thing that is original for my Wii is the Nunchuck, crap I jynxed myself.
Microsoft really needs to fix the Red Rings of Doom.
And the other flap at the top
Meh.
I see..
thanks for unlocking
wii rocks!!!!!!!
The one thing stopping me from getting a 360. The failure rate.
same, ive really been tempted though. I just don't wanna spend that much money on a 2/3 chance of it working. but my friend is getting an elite so i might try to get his "old" one for cheap, plus i know it works. maybe theres hope.Smile

exactly the same with me, and I want a gaming system that gives a little bit 'more' than the wii eventually... which means I would have to settle for a ps3 Sad and go bankrupt

Thats not it for me, its just I want a 360. I also will get a PS3 later down the track. And my excuse for not owning either used to be "They didn't have enough good games" but I can't use that now because the Wii has hardly any good games either.
i think you mean 'the wii doesn have enough of the games i like'

because the wii has TONS of good and great games, more than i can keep up with...plus all the great VC stuff...
Once Microsoft, finds out the problem and fixes it for good, then I will plan on getting one.
The Hinges on the DS would get a crack in it, and would break. I am glad it didn't happen to me. Toungue Big Grin

That's an insane failure rate.

What's the DSlite "crack" that was mentioned?

I had 2 DSlites, and the crack happened, I have another one I hope it doesn't happen, I don't have warranty >_<

Mine has a little crack on the hinges. You mean that's potentially bad?

I bought mine the day of the launch, I imagine my warranty is expired.

Yea its def Expired. The little Cracks dont really do anything, but I don't know what happens if its there for too long.
