Full Version: Cloverfield (Teaser for a movie before Transformers)

This teaser clip showed up before Transformers. I'm pretty sure a few of you have seen it. Also, the quality is bad because it's someone with a handheld camera since Paramount is keeping very tight wraps around this thing. This was on YouTube but Paramount is on a witch hunt to take these down which explains why the quality is even worse.

This thing has got me intrigued. I did a little research and the working title/code name for the film is Cloverfield. The website http://www.parasitemovie.com/ also seems to be related.
There were rumors that it would be a new Godzilla flick since there's a scream you can hear just before the Statue of Liberty's head gets cut off.

Clip of that roar:

Well it's pretty much been decided that this isn't Godzilla since they apparantly don't own the rights, yet there is still some sort of monster attack. There are also a bunch of teaser sites. This is a major viral ad... and it's working. I'm almost obsessed >_<. I really want to see this movie now.

Paramont want's to keep it under wraps but at the same time is willing to show a teaser???

sounds like Paramont has a Janus complex
(Janus: Greek god with 2 faces)
Well, they don't want it on YouTube at all, claiming their copyrights.
Since I saw the movie today, and I remember that, I was confused.. But I was more intriged in Rush hour 3 Toungue
I threw in an MP3 of that "Godzilla" yell.
More info
Even so, its just Godzilla >_>
Its not Godzilla, the studio doesn't own the right to it.

^More info, basically summarizes everything I found out (can't believe I didn't check there first, instead of spending 5 hours beating the puzzles and searching the net)
I know more but don't have the time to post it atm.

Man I'm obsessed with this movie...
FYI Cloud, Rush Hour 3 ftl.

I am anticipating this movie though.
When we first saw the trailer, we thought it would be stupid, but then it got to the point where we were staring dumstruck at the screen and wanting more. it was very, very infectious, they did a great job of getting our attention. I'm anticipating not only the release of it, but the release of any info straight from the source that doesnt get buried beneath puzzles and tons and tons of searching...
Rush Hour movies are FTW.

back to this movie. the first thing that pops in my head is War of the Worlds.

Rush Hour 3 FTW! Toungue

The first Rush Hour was awesome. The second was worse, but not terrible. I have a feeling the third will be even worse.
Nahh, the trailer itself was hilarious.
Rush Hour 1 was enjoyable. Rush Hour 2 was disgraceful, so logically Rush Hour 3 will be an embarrassment to be SEEN in cinemas watching it. Much like Matrix trilogy the Rush Hour trilogy has declined with each movie. Jackie and Chris are NOT funny.

*prepares for bad defenses of bad movies*

Now, back to topic.
It most likely is a Godzilla movie.

Compare the roar in the movie trailer with Godzilla's roar in this clip of his new game.
But they do not own the rights to Godzilla, how can they make a movie about it?

IGN @ Comic Con Wrote:
US, July 27, 2007 - On Thursday, July 26, 2007, J.J. Abrams appeared at San Diego Comic-Con during the Paramount Pictures panel to discuss his yet-untitled monster movie, which pundits are currently calling Cloverfield. Specifically, Abrams talked about his motivations for making the film, and hinted at its actual title.

"This is going to be really quick," Abrams said to the capacity crowd. "I just want to say I want a monster movie. I want a great monster movie. I've wanted a monster movie for so long, and I was in Japan a year ago with my son who is eight, and all he wanted to do was go to toy stores - so I know he's my son. And we went to the store and there were still all of these Godzillas, and I thought we need our own monster. We need a monster movie - not like King Kong. I love King Kong - King Kong is adorable - and Godzilla is a charming monster, but I wanted something that was just insane and intense.

"So we decided to make this movie and we're making it for you now, and it's almost done shooting," Abrams continued. "I watch dailies and I'm more excited about the movie itself than the trailer, which has gotten an amazing response and I can't thank you enough."

Abrams teased the audience with a laundry list of things to expect prior to the film's release. "We have six months before this movie comes out, which is a long time," he said. "So in the coming months you're going to get a whole bunch of things: you're going to get the real trailer, you're going to get the real poster, you're going to get to see footage from the movie, and you'll get the real title. I won't give you that today," he said to a disapproving crowd. "Do you think we'll call it Monstrous? No," he said definitively, indicating that a possible title that recently appeared online was incorrect.

A few of weeks ago I went to see the Transformers movie, and in the previews there was a teaser trailer without a title.

Its not real fresh in my mind so bear with me, but it started with some sort of party for a guy (I believe it was a going-away party) that went on normally for a minute but then there was shaking and loud noise and so on. The people at the party go outside and look toward the downtown area of the city and there is some large explosions and I believe some loud growling/roaring as if there was some large monster, but nothing was shown. The trailer then ended abruptly without giving a title but gave a very brief screen with some credits (the title may have been there too).

Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have any idea what its for? It didn't give much but it certainly caught my attention.
