Yeah, that would be great!
Haha, hell yes it would be great!
i dont have an hdtv...getting one for my room soon though
This really depends on a lot of things.

The Wii in theory, could probably output 720p/1080i, there's no way it can do 1080p. Which leads me to my speculation on how the Xploder for PS2 works. I don't know if it utilizes the PS2 to simply upscale what it puts out, which to me seems a little hard to do, given the limited memory the PS2 has. It's quite possible it takes the 480p image, and does a sort of "unchanged upscale", IE post rendering, fix up the image, and blow it up for more pixels. To do a pre rendered upscale, or a post rendered upscale, seems out of the leauge of the PS2. If anyone can get me more specs on the software, I'd gladly analyze them. It's a possibility it unlocks a feature where the games are rendered in HD, but at the most, the PS2 could only do 720p, AT the MOST. The feature has to be readily available, and has to be programmed into every game. If games were simply resolution indpendant from the start (IE, RAN in 480i, but could be rendered by code in any resolution), then it could work.

The problem with the Wii. The Wii is definitely, as I said before, uncapable of true 1080p. What I see wrong with the Wii in this case is that #1, it gets hot. #2 The software may be locked to 480p. #3, I can't see the Wii pulling off full scale upscaling.

In theory, if the software supported it, it could be unlocked in a future upgrade, the Wii hardware is well capable of rendering in a 720p, in at least 24 frames per second. There may be framerate issues, but it could be done. Since the image would be rendered in 720p, or 480p upscaled to 720p, it's unlikely it would do 1080i, as the Wii is too weak to make that kind of upscale, and there's no hardware upscaler present in the Wii configuration.

As to people who mentioned clocking the hardware in a software update. It's possible, but unlikely. As long as the firmware had original support for advanced hardware management as such, they could simply flash the firmware to overclock. Don't forget, this is essentially the Gecko and Flipper clocked higher, slightly redesigned, and called Hollywood and Broadway. From this, we can gather that it's an open architecture, and it's possible that it can easily accept different clocks. They may be slightly underclocked due to heat concerns.

Again, if someone wants to help me find some info on the software architecture of the PS2 Xploder, I'll be glad to further extend knowledge on how this could effect the Wii.

Sincerely,
sc7
