yeah i thought that too.. but after all it is a mario game so what do you expect.. but if it were as you say it could make the game a little more interesting as players would have to put more thought into the characters that they choose.. knowing that they will lose some events almost definatly..
they could help with this by using the statistics thing like they did in Mario Strikers Charged so that you get an idea of whos good at what

but seriously though .. if i lost a race to bowser with sonic or bowser beats tails in long just or whatever i think i'd give up on it lol

Im think im going to get it regardless wether it gets good reviews...I just buy anythink with Mario slapped on it. If it was my choice I would just have Mario and friends at the Olimpics...and leave Sonic to his crap games. lol

Only surprise there to me is Daisy and Yoshi being a speed type. The other choices fit well. I wonder if there are any hidden characters
