Along with Twilight Princess director Eiji Aonuma both mentioned that eventhough there are ideas in the Nintendo offices for the next Zelda game for Wii but that nothing is very far along in development. So much for those rumors that the next Zelda game was already "deep in development for around a year.
They mention that since a Zelda game usually takes 3 years to complete, the two Nintendo execs let us know that we're not to expect a new Zelda game for Wii any time soon.
Then came Animal Crossing for Wii. All that came out of this little chat is that the Animal Crossing team is hard at work creating a sequel. He may have hinted at Miis being used with the game in some way, saying, "the Mii Channel was put together by the director of the most recent Animal Crossing game". Based on what we first heard of the game last year, it is expected to make the most use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection when compared to all other Wii titles.
Another old Nintendo franchise brought back into the light was Pikmin. In Miyamoto's own words, we "centainly (havn't) seen the last of Pikmin". Miyamoto said that he "would like to do something with them, and (that) the Wii interface in particular is very well suited to that franchise". So from the looks of things, Pikimin 3 may not be in development yet but it looks like we could soon see another sequel added to the franchise.
Finally, Miyamoto touched upon one-to-one sword fighting controls and the possibility of seeing them on Wii. At E3 last year with the demo of Red Steel many people jumped to the conclusion that the game would read your movements with the Wii remote and output them on screen exactly as you swung. However, many people were disapointed. Miyamoto hinted at a yet to be announced Wii title featuring 1:1 controls. ""We haven't announced anything, so I can't speak about any particulars" Miyamoto said, "but we do have a lot of ideas about how we could potentially use the Wii remote for something like that". No hint to what this mystery title could be. Perhaps a completely new original IP from the company.
