For those of you that don't know, my birthday is the same day the Harry Potter book is coming out. Now, normally, this wouldn't change anything. Except, I actually don't want to have it spoiled. So now I don't know if someone who calls me is calling to wish me a happy birthday, and could lead to a pleasant phone conversation, or if they are calling to ruin my book reading experience. What do you think I should do? Turn off my phone and read really fast? Answer my phone and risk it? Read normally and have no contact with anyone for the next few days?
Tell them that you haven't got the book yet and that you don't want them to spoil it for you.

Always works, unless they are jerks.
agreed. if they fail to comply, then you know what to do Chainsaw
just dont mention the book at all >.> that way they dont even think about doing that.
Just read normally and don't talk to anyone for a few days Big Grin
Other.  Go get it at midnight, and read it before you get any calls Toungue
Anyway, if I were to choose between those options, I'd answer the phone, and if anybody even starts spoiling it, turn off the phone.  Then print out WiiLoaded spoiler tags and tape them onto the person's mouth.  Actually, forget that last part.
I just read the book non-stop for the whole day.. I usually finnish before the next day.

Hopefully I won't be working...

My cousin is a speed reader.. she read the Half-Blood Prince in 2 hours...

She even caught spelling mistakes and miss-prints along the way.. I was impressed.

I'm doing the same thing. I did it for Half-Blood Prince and it took be about 3 and a half hours. But wow, 2 hours, and catching mistakes? That's talent.

I think it took me the whole day (ended at around 1 am, cause I finally got some peace and quiet).. but its hard to speed read when your parents are asking you to do miniscule chores every few minutes...

My favorite part of the book is when I find the 100$ bill inside ^_^

(I always get the book for my birthday from my parents)
This year its a tad too late for it though...
I'll read about the book online. Because I don't like Harry Potter enough to commit to the novel.
