Well its not really failing that much, its just some one is sending me music ( snare ) and its taking so long, so I thought there must be a virus on my computer or something along those lines, so I downloaded NOD 32, and took off my Symatic Antivirus.
Was that smart?
yeh you will, ad aware's slipped recently
go for spybot search and destroy instead
and AVG is nasty and bloated. NOD32 is quick, secure and doesn't take up any memory (really)
Prevx 2.0 may be pretty intrusive and take up a good amount of your processing power (if you don't have at least a dual core especially), but it's been a very nice bundle for everything (spyware, malware, viruses, etc) and has gotten rid of problems that other software couldn't. I was impressed enough to use it instead of anything else.
Maybe Snare's upload speed is terrible (mine is 128kbps for god sake) or are you having other slowdown problems. Try the disk defragmenter or error checker if you feel you need to.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
Well I still have to restart my computer for NOD 32 to start.
I keep my computer on all day, pretty much, could that be causing any damage?
I doubt leaving your computer on all day will seriously affect the speed. But hey who knows.
Nah it wouldn't. Do you install/uninstall programs regularly? Because that's like putting stuff into an oven. Some small parts of the program will get caked onto the disk even after uninstall. Also when you constantly install/uninstall programs it causes items to get moved around and out of place. This is called fragmentation. *puts on thinking cap*
Think of it this way. When you first get a hard drive it will look like this:
1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5 So everythings nice and neat right?
After a while and with plenty of adding and removing of things, it looks like this:
1,4,2,4,5,2,2,3,5,1,3,4,5,4,1,3
This causes extra loading times because the computer has to search for the items, like looking for a book that was put in the wrong section of a library. It's the same concept. Run Disk Defragmenter to fix it.
Error checking deletes old unused files that shouldn't be there or replaces broken links. To use it:
Start > My Computer > Right-click Local Disk or C: Drive > Properties > Click the "Tools" tab > Error Checking > Check now
Hope that helps.
