Halo DS Pitched to Bungie "Several Times"
Developer is all for a DS instalment as long as "it doesn't drain resources".
UK, July 19, 2007 - It's a rumour that's been flying around the internet for some time but Bungie has finally admitted it's "very likely" another developer created a DS version of Halo. However, the dev said that there has "never been an officially funded or sanctioned development of any sort of DS Halo game" from Bungie.

Speaking to Siliconera, Bungie's Brian Gerard and Frank O'Connor candidly tackled the subject of Halo DS. They confirmed that "every once in a while it does come up" and that Microsoft could potentially publish it through THQ, as it did before with Age of Empires: Age of Kings on DS.

Having said that, O'Connor doesn't believe the DS is well-suited to the FPS genre: "The problem is the DS is not an FPS console, right? It's not an FPS handheld. There really is no such thing. If we did something cool I would like to see it. But I would rather see the Halo IP on any handheld system applied to a different genre because handhelds don't necessarily do FPS well," he added.

So where does that leave Halo DS? Well, O'Connor thought that the brand could work better if it was "side-scrolling shoot-'em-up or whatever, but not necessarily an FPS" and that Bungie would never rule it out. "There is nothing going on right now", O'Connor concluded.

What do you make of this, hey? Its mostly for those who were asking "where has the Halo DS rumour gone?"

Discuss.

Well according to Matt Cassamassiamsimnaasmnan, he played one of the versions of it, but it's unlikely we'll see it anytime soon (ever)
Halo is coming to the DS? all of places the DS. okay. got no problem with hat.
It's not
I'm not sure about what they said...

"DS is not a FPS console"?
Since when are consoles given the type of console they are? I'm pretty sure they play all kinds of games.

Heck, they've probably seen MPH, why can't they make something like that?
MPH wasn't that great of a game. It showed potential, but alot of work needs to be done.
id love halo to be for the DS

I'm not saying "make another MPH" I'm saying make something like it.
Better then it.

FPS?
First-Person Shooter, like Doom, Metroid Prime (most of the time) or Duke Nukem

personally, i hope Bungie doesn't taint the DS with a friggin' Halo game. i could see it happening if they did make a side-scroller Halo...
"Halo DS does the exact same thing every side-scrolling game has ever done. It simply takes a few good points from other similar games and puts them together to do nothing original. IT'S THE BESTEST GAME EVER!!!!"

my ass. keep it on XBox and keep it away from my treasured DS
no
Maybe?
STOP IT!! >_<

i've told you people to stop it with the one word answers. elaborate. no to what? maybe what? expand on your thoughts
if Halo comes out for DS, than it could show support from Microsoft for the DS which could result in 2 things

Microsoft abandoning it's plans for a hand held (rumors i believe are true)

possibly hurt sony even more in the handheld dept

in the end, bungie might conclude it's bad buisness and everyone can sleep safe without the halo taint on DS

what needed work? the controls? because if you're saying that your crazy. it just wasn't like all the other metroid games or even like Metroid Prime 1&2

On the topic of Halo coming to DS.

It would be the final nail in the PSP coffin.
The PSP is already dead and buried LM-X
Its not "dead and buried."

But if you believe it is, then go ahead and do so. All it would take is a DS game drought and the PSP to get a couple of big titles.

Granted that isn't likely, anything is possible in the world of gaming. Most of us didn't forsee the Wii being as successful as it has been (unless you were a fanboy)
right but even if there was a DS game drought there are still plenty of good games already out.

maybe the PSP's not dead and buried but it's sick in the hospital with Cancer waiting for a blood donation from 'Insert name of PSP AA Title here' to revive it.
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core will save it. As I will be buying a PSP for it. Also MGS: Portable Ops is ownage. And I'm sitting tight for Silent Hill: Origins.
