Excerpt from Game Informer Interview:
“I’ve been very involved in a lot of the software that you’ve seen—both with the launch of the Wii and the launch of the DS. On the DS I was particularly involved in Nintendogs very heavily. On Wii I’ve been very involved with Wii Sports and this game—Wii Fit. But of course, right now I’m very, very deeply into Super Mario Galaxy. We didn’t have an opportunity to talk about that game at the media briefing today, so, I’m hoping the press will have questions for me about it.”
“…my development teams aren’t working on either of those franchises right now. Of course Nintendo has a lot of development teams that it works with. On those development teams are a lot of people that are Nintendo fans and on those teams there are a lot of people who are constantly telling us, “Oh we want to make a new Kid Icarus.” So you never know when something like that might happen…As for Mother, [ed: Earthbound], that’s a slightly more complicated matter that I can’t really answer because it’s really up to Mr. Itoi is to whether or not he’s interested in continuing that franchise. But I can say that Mr. Itoi and I are still on very good terms and we enjoy working together.”

I would love to see another Kid Icarus especially with his new look.
I would have loved to see a Kid Icarus, game announced at E3. With the Pit looking like what he looks like in Brawl.
If they'd make a new Earthbound I would forgive them for Pokemon Trozei and Ranger.
Lol I never played an Earthbound game but if they released one for the Wii i would be willing to try it out.
Yeah, people have been clamoring more and more for Icarus' return, pretty much ever since he was a trophy in Melee.. probably before.
Then he turns up in Brawl... And pretty much every conference Miyamoto and others are asked about it..

Earthbound, I've heard so much of and have yet to play it. I hope they at least release them all for the VC, including the Japan only ones, fully translated. I can't play the ...other .. ways, esp for RPG/strategy games like this and FE. I'm a story man, I needs my character development.

From the sounds of it we'll see a new Kid Icarus game before another Earthbound one. But I'd be happy either way to see what they come up with.
Nintendo has too much going right now to go into a completely new game, and most likely there's nothing in development as of yet on Earthbound or Kid Icarus. maybe by next E3 they'll announce new titles such as Mario Golf/Tennis, Kid Icarus and/or something about Earthbound
personally, i'd prefer Earthbound for the DS. the game would just seem to fit better on the handheld. Icarus needs to be on the Wii though. 3rd person shooting, aiming with the Wii-mote, 1-1 gestures to attack with his dual blades. THAT would kick so much ass

Well, that's a given. It's highly unlikely a new Kid Icarus is coming out before fall 2008. But that doesn't mean they're already planning or working on one - they have different teams for all these games and have aquired some smaller studios, as I've heard from IGN recently.
Speaking of IGN, I listened to their post-E3 Wii-k in Review podcast, and they mention a game for hardcore gamers that is a ressurection of a Nintendo franchise that is still waiting in the wings and has yet to be revealed...

I dunno about 3rd person Kid Icarus, seeing as it was a sidescroller back in the day.. but so was Metroid. Funny that there is that comparison, because Kid Icarus was seen by many as the "mythological Metroid."

Well, Kid Icarus is available on the Virtual Console, and Metroid.. should be showing up ...sometime... my money is on us getting at least one of the Metroid series before or around when MP3 launches.

3rd person means a view of the character. 1st person is from the character's perspective. so Icarus was originally 3rd person, and i'd like to see it stay that way
as far as the similarities between Metroid and Kid Icarus, they are numerous and there's a good reason for it. the same studio and mind of Metroid created Kid Icarus. there is even a section within Kid Icarus that has Metroids 
my thoughts is that Kid Icarus might get the DMC/Ninja Gaiden treatment and be 3rd person behind the back
As to Earthbound... Where is the original one i heard was promised for DS? (or was it GBA, i can't remember) Earthbound was a fun game that made RPG's fun (almost better than Chrono Trigger IMO) and there was supposed to be an Earthbound 64 too... long rant short I WANT MORE EARTHBOUND!!!
and i hope Kid Icarus is as i think it is, it was a hard game in the past, i hope it's just as hardcore in it's next incarnation
I agree with Nomad that Kid Icarus should be left in 3rd person.
Why are people so interested in a Kid Icarus? It's not like it will have anything in common with the first. It's just a dude in a toga.
