Full Version: PSP Slim's Battery Life Shorter Than Originally Thought

One of the selling points of the PSP Slim, besides it being, well, slimmer, was that it had a longer battery life than its fatter older brother, but that's not quite true.

You will be able to use your Slim for eight to ten hours, but only if you're using the battery from your old PSP. Using the battery that ships with the Slim, you'll get about five hours of game time.

Well, that doesn't sound too bad, right? Right, except the two batteries aren't the same size and shape, so if you use the old battery, it sticks out the back of your PSP. Sony is apparently going to be offering a new backplate for folks who are willing to trade portable console aerodynamics for more power.

hey sony, fire the guy responsible ASAP
Yes Sony said this at E3
Yup I think all the speculation was done on our part, but I do remember reading Sony talking about using the old battery and it being larger and wouldn't fit properly, but you could get more battery life.
....

why should I buy a PSP again?
That. Sucks.

I'll pick up the special edition Final Fantasy PSP and get back to you on that one.

Ok so without a better battery life this just makes the reason to not buy this even stronger.

isn't that only in japan?

I believe the PSP does not using region coding, so I could buy a Jap version and have it shipped here.

when you turn on the PSP for the first time, it let's you choose between 15+ languages (English being one of them)
So you'd have those little things on it, from Japan and have to wait 1 -2 weeks for it too ship, than get too have it right then?

And it will be in all japanese...well the start up.

Somehow I'll manage with all that Japanese writing...and if someone can wait that long for a refurbished 360...I can wait for this...or one like it.

oooh etching, im in Smile
True true, you make teh sense! =D

I want it too >_<
>.> Why didn't they just make a better battery life for the PSP slim instead of being weird.
Simply because they are Sony.
Maybe they wanted to keep cost down so that the old PSP price would be the same for the revamped one? I wonder if the old battery's play time was for when the PSP was clocked at 222 and not 333mhz?
this is awesome, i want a new psp so bad,(mine is busted all to hell) but i wanted to wait for the smaller more efficient battery one. WOOT! i'm buying a psp when i get payed!
