Harrison says in terms of the Sony price drop, "I don't think they had any choice." He then makes the error of saying that "it's pretty soon after launch to be dropping your price." That was a nice try by Harrison to pull a fast one and make us forget that Nintendo knows quite well how to drop console prices to save themselves. Case in point, the Gamecube dropped its price almost 60 days earlier into its life cycle than the PS3 did. Although he gets back on point saying Sony is continuing to confuse consumers with two versions of the PS3. We wonder why Sony can't just learn from their PSP Lite and simply replace the old with the new.
As for Microsoft, Harrison says they were so busy trying to rush the Xbox 360 to market and beat PlayStation, while "discounting" Nintendo, that it "set them up for the hardware problems that they're having now." He says Microsoft confessed because they couldn't hide the issue any longer, "It's a stunning admission; it's more than a billion dollars." Harrison says Microsoft didn't have a choice on their admission, it just became too much. So, Sony admitted they needed to drop the price, Microsoft admitted their RROD problems ... now, what does Nintendo have to confess?

Perhaps Nintendo needs to confess it really doesn't know what to do with online play?
This is my #1 gripe with the Gamecube (and in my opinion, one of the reasons game sales did so poorly on the console, when other version had some form of online play, anyway). If the Wii can't get a firm, secure online campaign going for its gameplay; be it co-op or 8+ simultaneous players, there are going to be a lot of unhappy gamers out there.
Case in point, how hard would it have been to include online co-op in Alien Syndrome? I'm tired of split-screen gameplay. That should be reserved for party games alone.
Its pretty true what Harrison said.
and OMFG, JOYSTICK STOLE MY PSP LITE NAME!!! I HATE EM! DD: ;_;
right but excluding the Xbox and PC, Internet play was merely a gimmick last generation so you can't really fault the Gamecube for that.
I fully agree with what Harrison says. The 360 did come out far too early and the PS3 needed that price drop. What does Nintendo need to confess? I don't know. They really need to get more games out and get more of them online. but I'm sure they're going to do that eventually so...
OT: hehehe Cloud got jacked!
Nintendo needs to confess to the actual Wii hardware specs, mayhaps?
What is the need to bash other sytems Harrison?
Ino Wii is doing very well but. Its far from perfect.
Sony didn't really drop the price of the PS3. They are liquidating current inventory and once its gone the normal price still applies.

It is still early in the system's life cycle, so we're not seeing many online games now, but their frequency will probably be much different later in the Wii's life. Remember, the first online game only came out last month with PBR... this month there's Mario Strikers which will hopefully show online much better.. and down the road there's Brawl and the third parties start to step in with Fifa 08 and Madden 08 both having online play.
That being said, I don't know if we're going to see as strong online support with the Wii as there is in Xbox Live...and remember, Live charges for the online service.. while Nintendo does not, giving them less incentive to take advantage of online play.
Possibly next generation we'll see a more online support, but Nintendo has stated a few times that they are more interested in what people can play in the same room together. Which I can understand, but it's also frustrated when, in my post-college life, I'd like to play games with all those friends I've made who live states, and soon to be, countries away...

they didnt start it if thats any consolation

this is kind of the dirty little secret about the PS3 price cut that no one is talking about
i agree that microsft rushed the xbox360. it could be lots betta
If they didn't rush the 360, the wouldn't have the red ring of death problem costing them billions. Wii's online situation is similar to how the DS' was when it first launched. There wasn't much in the beginning but look at the DS now. Online titles coming out left and right. The same can happen for Wii in a couple of years.
I think it online will improve alot through out 2008. Im very impressed with strikers and that was the first Europe online game. Your going to like it!
