Nintendo targets new support as it attempts to gear up Wii production...

Amidst suggestions that the Wii drought that plagued the months after the console's release will occur once again during the Christmas period, electronic manufacturing website emsnow is reporting that Nintendo have secured the services of additional manufacturing partners to bolster Wii production.

The article alleges that two new partners, Sunplus Technology Co. Ltd and Wistron Corp, have been enlisted to supply controller chips and Wii production respectively, whilst Lite-On Group are believed to be joining the group to boost production of the Wii power supply.

Further still, the report suggests that an "updated" Wii will feature chips from a greater number of suppliers, as opposed to the current exclusive agreement with PixArt Imaging Inc.

its about friggin time nintendo...
Stupid updates, it better not be a good update <_<.
I think the 'update' is just chips made by different companies. It'll still have the same hardware capabilities...
yeah

*drew crosses fingers and prays
I wonder how long it'll take for this production increase to be noticeable.
Good.  It's about time.  I'm looking forward to lines dying down.
Awsomeness

what games are you referring to? this thread is about more Nintendo Wii's being put in stores.

We should go back and look at a couple particular threads and find the members who kept telling us that there wasn't a Wii production product and the reason we didn't see any on store shelves was because so many people wanted them. Now it seems there was a true production issue, and not just people running over each other in their local Walmart trying to get a Wii.

The more Wiis out there the better. Smile
thats kind of stupd
I was somewhat surprised...last night when in WalMart looking for the Woody Woodpecker Collection box set, I noticed they had 3 Wii's in stock and 1 PS3. However, I'm sure by now if I were to go there, no Wii's would be on the shelf and that PS3 would still be chillin.

Would you mind explaining whats stupid? Smile

hopefully this means they can bring out new color for wii soon.
Probably not soon, but it's very likely to happen once they're able to produce enough of the originals then they can start thinking about other colors. They'll probably do one at a time though.

I know. Didn't finish my sentence. I'm looking forward to their games being ended (The games Nintendo are playing with us, not knowing when shipments are coming, etc.)
All people hoping for a Wii should get one by 2008, or so I'd think.

i really doubt there are any 'games' being played, they are making as many wiis as possible and they just keep selling out, they add production partners and keep trying to increase production to meet demand...seems like a pretty good strategy to me,

this holiday should be interesting
