It must be Mac Hacking day because here's another Apple exploit hot off the presses. Some other hackers have found an exploit in the Safari browser on the iPhone. A hacker could throw a website up with the evil code that will give them full access to an iPhone.

This lets them do things like record the audio from the room the iPhone is in, see the text messages sent, check search history in the browser and Google Maps, and more.

Instead of making a worm and not telling Apple, these folks have notified Apple and will help them fix it. They also believe that the worm also affects the PC and Mac version of Apple's Safari browser

Specifically read the "Preliminary technical paper" near the top. Its great.
wouldnt even think of doing this if i had an i phone
This all comes from the fact that it runs a modified version of the OS X kernel, mach. Sure, they didn't include many of the shell applications, but there are still numerous network flaws at the kernel level. Now, this particular exploit takes advantage of the Safari browser, and can possibly affect the Windows and Mac versions of the browser. Since no technical details are released, I can't determine at what level of the application the exploit is at. If it's in the layout engine (most likely), it would also affect Konqueror, unless the branches have changed THAT much since the split.
Its great that these people told Apple about this. Maybe they even got a little reward for it?
