if a ssb makes it to the ds it would probably be one of those games that have minimum use of the touch screen. for example mario kart ds

just have the thumb stylus on and use it for quick melee attacks by touching who you want to attack. L and UP could be jump, R could be grab, Y could be special moves, and B could be powerful melee(like c). X would be sheild and A would be the taunts/stances.both screens would have the whole arena and a small bar on the bottom could slowly fill up and when it's full it could be touched to do a smash move. it sounds a little complex. use mic? no, because if the arena was on both screens you wouldn't be able to see thm when blowing on the mic.(ds lite) ds would just be harder because the mic is in the corner.
