EA has today unveiled a new expansion pack: Sims 2 Bon Voyage.

The new expansion will let you take your Sims family on holiday trips to exotic locations, including the Far East, rustic mountaintops and a tropical island.

EA says: "Whether your Sims are relaxing on a lush tropical island in a luxury suite, camping with the family on a pristine mountaintop, or exploring the culture of the Far East, they'll enjoy new activities to relax and rejuvenate."

Ah, The Sims 2. A somewhat peaceful game, rather than the stress inducing, edge-of-pain-threshold game which in all rights it should be. A "life simulator" it is known as, and it holds a place in the gaming market which as of yet, no other developer has "decided" to threaten.

While I'm sure enemies of the franchise have made another yawn at the latest effort, I don't doubt that long term fans have done the same. The Sims 2 Bon Voyage, is basically a revised version of the old The Sims On Vacation (On Holiday in the UK), just like you could say about The Sims 2 Nightlife and Pets, have been upgraded games of The Sims Hot Date and Unleashed respectively.

Although I would call myself a mild fan of The Sims series, I will more than likely not picking this up. My main reason is the reason which many hardcore PC gamers have also noticed, performance issues. I run a Pentium D 2.8GHz, with 1GB of RAM, and a 256MB gaming Graphics Card and I still get a few frames under which I would ideally aim for. And here's the icing on the cake, I put all the graphics settings on low.
