Many people say they are tired of those wii games that are just a collection of mini-games, and that they want a real game that takes advantage of the wii-mote's abilities.

The mini-game games are the only games so far that have taken full advantage of what the wii-mote can do.
I understand what you mean.
yeah, I suppose....

although madden is an example of a THIRD! party that did well with it. and FPS's turned out as well as people hoped.
really, fps, and really most other games really dissappoint me. the only wii-mote actions they use are pointing and swinging it back and forth. it doesnt really get much more depth. but then again, to much motion sensing can ruin a game. seriously for red steel i wasnt even sure if i would need buttons. nintendo is dealing with a new style of gaming and havent really grasped how to make it int o a good game...yet. that is my excuse for the low amount of quality games out now.
Well if you are refering to Wario Ware as being then a collection of Mini games you are absolutely right. It uses the Wiimote in all possible ways.
I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. By no means am I calling it a gimmick...it's just you're so used to it, it's second nature by now. You don't remember playing a wiisports demo back in november and saying "I ACTUALLY SWUNG AT THE BALL!! THE BAT KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH THE WIIMOTE WHEN YOUR BATTING!"........ I know I did.
i also think i'm realizing that the wii-mote has limits and it and the nunchuck alone can make a game that much more real. such as in a game like loz: twilight princess, what more motion sensing could be done besides aiming projectiles and swinging the wii-mote to attack with a sword.

edit: this makes me realize the possiblities of the balance board. you know those scooters that you simply lean forward in to move in that direction. the board could use similar technology, eliminating the need for an analog stick......just a thought.
I thought Godfather had really good controls. Its never been so satisfying to strangle!
as i just saw someone say on Digg...the best games take time, wait a year (ie, early December) before we see the great stuff come out (by which time we'll see Galaxy, SSBB(?), and others) I mean, XBOX 360 needed a year for Gears of War to come out, right? And most will say that's the best game to come out in this generation of consoles.

Also, I've had Madden 07 since I got my Wii, but until this last weekend, did not play it much. Now that I've started playing it, I have to say, the graphics are sick and the controls are extremely responsive.

Mini-games only have replay value when you have friends over, which is fun, but the true greatness of the system still lies on the (very near) horizon.
I know where you're coming from. As others said, those will hopefully come in due time.
It's true that mini-game collections show off the potential of what Wii can do, but there's also a point where there becomes too many of them and it just floods Wii's library. Now that mini-games showed us what Wii can do, all developers need to do is to make those games showing Wii's capabilities. And some have already started.

Yes, Galaxy in November 12th, Brawl December 3rd, and Metroid next month on the 27th.

They're so close... I have to be saving up for them.
Hopefully other developers follow suit with Nintendo and make some more full games rather than games within games.
Considering we are in our first year of a new console, we really shouldn't be too disappointed.
i'm not really disappointed, I'd just like to see some more games with depth, rather than almost no purpose. Developers have been doing a good job of making purposeful minigames though.
And that requires time, patience is the key. Like CZMQ said it it's only the first year, so we really shouldn't be worried about anything.
i'm really excited about what might come out in late 2008-early 2009. i'm sure there are companies now that are only a couple months into production, so the possibilities are endless.
Yes, the DS amazed us with what it could do, and the Wii will follow.
I'd like to know how long the game companies have had a Wii dev kit in their possession. That way we could figure out if it's just them that's being lazy while creating games for the Wii.
i think that some games that are going to come out are deff gonna take advantage of the wii controls
