Diehard comic book fans of the younger persuasion can look forward to an all-new story with a secret bad guy and familiar faces, along with appearances from an NPC Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hellicarrier (which serves as your mission-giver and hub site). Playable characters include all the characters listed above, but are also joined by the Black-Suited Spider-Man, Blade, Iron Fist, and several other unrevealed characters. Hidden collectables and mini-games are also planned.
I mostly remember the G4 interview with Stan Lee at E3. He wasnt quite sure what the title was and he didnt know what co-op meant. Pretty cool game though.
When Spider-Man: Friend or Foe ships, you'll be able to store power-ups -- there's invincibility, health regeneration, mega-damage and a screen-clearing move called Hero Strike -- beat on enemies while your sidekick holds'em and upgrade your abilities with the SHIELD tokens you've found around the levels. There are five different locations with four levels each.
Although some have faulted the game for its kiddie-look, it seems to have solid controls and an interesting premise. Although a similar style worked for the LEGO Star Wars games, it remains to be seen if Spider-Man: Friend of Foe has enough unlockables to make it last like LEGOs. The final verdict will have to wait until the fall.
The actual gameplay sounds good. but I'm a bit apprehensive about the "new characters" thing.... what's wrong with the classics? Ah well, they said they were aiming towards the younger peoples.
