I got a new tv and after doing all the setup stuff, when i started browsing channels, they are all really discolored. Like the people's skin is blue and whatnot, I adjusted every single picture control from the tv menu (tint, contrast, color, etc.) but it won't change the color from being all screwed up. anyone know what to do? is the tv broke or is there a way to fix it
I assume its a CRT? Try to run the degauss.
yEAH its crt, how do I run the degauss? (i honestly dont have any clue what that even is, lol)
Well degauss is when the TV charges up and then lets loose a random magnetic field which fixes exactly what you are talking about .

Do you know how sometimes you turn a tv off then on its quiet but if you let it sit overnight it makes a loud "thunk" when you turn it on? Thats the degauss.

Try turning your TV off and unplugging it for a while so it can cool off. When it reaches room temp turn it on and it should make the thunk and fix the colors.

If the TV isnt too heavy try turning it around while its powered and you will probably see the distortion change as you move it!
Take it back?
taking it back is too much of a hassel

But I will do what you said ciper, how long do I need to keep it on before turning it off though?
I can't say for sure. It depends on the TV. Some even degauss at every power cycle. Do you know the model number? Maybe we can look it up.

I read through the owner's manual pdf and could'nt come up with anything, maybe i just didnt look hard enough
if your using a component input to receive your channels, check your cable's okay and you've put all the plugs in
right now, all thats plugged in are the power cord, and the cable cord
TVs discolor/break pixels if they're dropped, e.g. in the showroom
i never dropped it though
do you have a photo?
of my tv?
oh oops, yeah i get a picture, but for instance the weather channel, the water is green and the land is red and the person is blue
That means the RGB is out of whack
R=Red
G=Green
B=Blue

It has to be aligned, just like a PC, options menu?
The only thing in the picture menu was contrast, tint, color, sharpness, and brightness. I adjusted all of them and neither did anything. oh and it also had a 'blue background: on' option, i turned it off and nothing changed either
well it shows you dont have any busted lumens. are you sure the tint isn't messed up?
yeah, the tint was set at 0, i turned it all the way down to -50, then up to +50 and nothing changed at all (well just slightly, but the color was still pretty much the same)
hit it a lot....works for everything.. even space age accelerometers lawlz.
