Okay, so yesterday... i asked my mom to buy me something, cause im awsome. & she said yes. I obviously wanted to something in the field of video games. So i decided to go with a portable. The decision to make was, wether i should get the Nintendo DS? or The PSP?
So i hear both are good, but people say the PSP is better, and i really don't know much about them...
Um, what do you think and why?
I would say DS, for now at least, the PSP Is getting a few Promising Titles, but DS already has a lot of good titles already out.
oh god don't touch PSP with a two hundred foot pole! All the games are watered down PS2 titles, and that is not a good thing trust me.
The worst part about PSP is its load times. Any PSP owner will tell you about the disgusting load times on games. Look up the load times on youtube if you don't believe me. DS is a great little console. I bought one recently and think it's great
I would definitly go with DS as my first choice. DS has alot of great games at the moment and alot of them are origanal games not ps2 ports like the PSP. Even though PSP has a few good looking titles, I say just get a DS! They are to much fun to miss out on.
your asking this question in a Nintendo forum... i think your answer will be a slightly biased..... but to answer your question, DS there are alot of great titles for it
Well the PSP does have better graphics. And some of the DS games have weird controls. But for the most part the DS has better games. It all depends on what you want. It is true that most of the games on the PSP are just watered down ports of the PS2 games.
But the PSP has more 'mature' titles on it if that's what you're looking for.
I recommend the DS.

It has a quality library of fun games. Some of which are actually original thanks to the touch screen.
Of course if you like multimedia functionality, get the PSP.
well, as i can see DS seems to be the popular choice....... but! this is a nintendo site. So there are of course many fans of the DS? But, i really do enjoy the ps2 titles, infact im in love with my ps2 =] (and my wii

And then agian, psp has music, and picture& all that, but i do have my ipod!?!
I DONT KNOW! THIS is so hard........ still don't know.. but so far i'm going towards the side of the PSP =S

well just have your mom since buy you a psp since its the more expensive one then just save for ds since it is cheap

PSP also has Silent Hill: Origins coming out, it already has an awesome MGS game on it, it'll probably get a DMC or RE game in the future sometime as well.
Multimedia=go with PSP? Pfft. Get a R4DS flash cart and there you now have your multimedia plus much better homebrew apps than PSP ever had (have you ever tried browsing with a PSP? It's not fun trying to type on a phone-pad like keyboard using an analog control stick. Touchscreen FTW!). All without the risk of bricking or warranty-voiding firmware hacking.
PSP has a lot of great games, most of which I do own, but I haven't touched my PSP in months. Haven't even had the desire to. Why? Because I'd bought a DS Lite.
If you want mature games, take off your clothes and stand on the corner. If you want a good handheld system get the DS.
Oh yeah, and... you might want to consider the cost of games. DS games are cheaper and load much, much faster.
DS games are just better.
Of course, if you're one of those people who worry about teh kiddiness face some DS games have. Then just go play GTA and be done with. Because you know, mature games are liek teh important thing, ya know? Ect.
I think people should be careful talking about how the PSP is a bad choice because it has "watered down" PS2 games. I mean what console right now is getting DS game ports and is vastly more powerful then the DS?
The answer to the question is...it all depends on what games you want to play. Generally the DS will not do well with 3D games and the PSP does better. If your into games like Nintendogs (which I enjoy) and games of that nature then DS is good. Remember though, PSP has games like LocoRoco, and can also play music, movies, and home brew games.
Like one member said, coming to a Nintendo Wii forum isn't the best place to get real straight down the line opinions, but everything depends on what kind of gamer you are.
I would also point out that the new PSP slim is suppose to combat the load time issue.

DS for me, but thats what i have so i am a bit biased
never considered the PSP i got a DS Phat way back in the day and love it but i also dont really like those 'mature' titles like GTA and MGS
