I pray to god that was sarcastic. Seriously, people are hard at work on every aspect, whether it is music or video or software. Sure, they could make profits from accessories, but not as much, then the work would begin to suffer. Regardless, you have no right to own that work. Sure it's just bits of data, but your intention is to listen to that music, or watch that video. People worked on it, and you have no right to get it for free.

Torrents and torrent clients are not illegal unless you use them to d/l copyrighted material. I use bitlord and have been for years.(never to d/l new movies out in theaters of course) The use of torrents can be interpreted in several ways. On one hand, you could say yes, its illegal because so many people use them to d/l music and movies that they should technically be paying for(aka pirates). But on the other hand. You can look at it like I do. Me and several thousand of my friends feel like sharing bits of information. Im not downloading any one thing from anyone, thats why I dont use programs like limewire. So I download little bits of information from hundreds or thousands of people. so what. That in itself is not illegal. If I were to take that info that i d/l from all those people, unpack it and burn it to a cd, then proceed to watch that data which just so happens to be a new movie thats out in theaters right now. Then it becomes illegal. but not until you unrar the file and burn it. I have been online for a very, very long time. In fact, I still have my commodore 64 complete with the badass 1200 baud modem( badass for 1985 i mean) and it will still connect to the net. Of course all you dial up people have no idea what slow is compared that crap. But that was all we had back then. Pirating was going on back then, and it will continue till the end of time. This whole thing about this and that is illegal is a bunch of ****. The internet is supposed to be about sharing information. And as far as im concerned, its only illegal if you get caught. And you only get caught if you don't know how to use your pc. I could go on about this for days, but i wont. I love the internet, and I am without a doubt one of the biggest internet leeches on the planet(as well as a huge drain on society). At this point , my personal feelings are that no one should have to pay for any digital media, like movies , music, books etc... I know I don't(I mean I would never illegally d/l anything). Sorry, but this whole discussion can spiral out of control no matter where its being discussed. I'll stop now. Freedom of information, thats what the internets all about. I use bitlord and have for years, when that goes away. I'll move to whatever the next thing is. Illegal or not, I refuse to pay for any digital media ever, under any circumstance, for any reason. Oops, I think that came out wrong. What I meant to say is, always pay for everything. Unless you're an idiot.
Then you are an idiot. Absolutely. Your logic is flawed. You have no respect for anyone else's intellectual property rights. You are the prime example of people who stunt creativity by taking what they rightfully don't own.

As I said before, torrent clients are NOT ILLEGAL. But downloading music, from "various friends", and happening to burn that, is the very same movie (it came from a source), that some one worked on, and you're watching it without permission/payment. You are an absolute theif. Sharing information, yes, but not copyrighted materials that some one else worked on. That's theft. I know, I work in the software industry, and it burns me up to hear about copyright infringement.

Go ahead, whine, complain, I won't further entertain you. You're clearly ingorant because (OMG MY COMMODORE64 LOLZORZ), and most of the liberal sheeple of the internet will come here in sad false logic attempts to defend your ignorant lack of respect for other people's work.

I'm done here,

A little harsh, but entirely correct. Almost makes me feel bad about the many things I've downloaded over the years, knowing the illegality. I just don't have money to go out buying that many things... yet. Once I can get a steady job and have enough money coming in my downloading days will be a thing of the past.

I've been reading around. As many of you may have heard, Bittorrent, inc. has purchased property rights for the uTorrent application. Version 1.7.1 is the first official version to have been "published" by Bittorrent, inc.

As some may be away, Bittorrent inc is essentially in bed with the RIAA/MPAA. Now, as someone who purchases all of my media content myself, I have absolutely no worries, but I still find the invasion of privacy i will continue to describe an issue.

I was using uTorrent to download an iso of Knoppix, a linux liveCD. Peerguardian 2 (test1_RC2 for Vista) detected 46 connections to mediasentry IP ranges, as well as connections to bittorrrent, inc. To check, I went and re dled the whole ISO in Azureus, and sure enough, 0 connections to mediasentry. I don't know about you, but I don't like this one bit...

....No offence, but aren't you a police officer?

I use Bits on Wheels in Mac (almost all the time) and Azureus in Linux and Windblows.

lol.. I personally haven't used a torrent ever... except that one time at Kindrik's. Where I got some DS Roms.
(Legal only if you delete them 24 hours after you dled them)
Sorta like a demo.

My dad would have a fit if I dled things on his laptop..
(My computer is on the frizz and I don't plan on building a new one until a game comes out that I HAVE to have.)
